Mamikos' Four-Year Journey, Embrace New Business Models Through Mamirooms

It has reached 110 thousand boarding house owners and 8 million users

Mamikos released since 2015 year, initially served as a site and application for finding rental housing or boarding houses in several cities. Still with the same mission, now the startup from Yogyakarta has experienced very rapid growth.

In the span of 4 years, they have succeeded in connecting 110 thousand boarding house owners in various cities in Indonesia with 8 million users every month. On the service side, there are also some significant improvisations, including the Booking feature to help users book rooms directly from the app.

"We will continue to focus on the boarding house industry category by helping to advance the business of room owners, as well as helping room seekers to find a place easily through our platform," said Mamikos Co-Founder & CEO Maria Regina Anggit Tut Pinilih to DailySocial.

Anggit also told about the initiative Mamirooms, which is a new business model at Mamikos to assist boarding house owners in managing their properties. For boarding house owners who are members of the boarding house, they will receive intensive assistance in marketing activities, room management, and property standardization in order to increase the selling value. The standardization includes interior, facilities, operators, services, and payment technology (MamiPay – still in the development stage).

Currently, Mamirooms services cover the Greater Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang, Surabaya and Malang areas.

Continuing the story, Anggit explained the beginning of the development of the service. His initial idea came from the problems he saw faced by his friends who had migrated. At that time looking for a boarding house became a time-consuming activity, even though the internet had become a part of life. Information available online is often inaccurate, incomplete, and not updated.

"We started to establish Mamikos from Yogyakarta, my hometown. We started with only 3 people. At that time, the three of us started collecting data on boarding houses and got 50 data. listing. Two weeks later we released Mamikos. After three years, the service already has more than 200 thousand properties," explained Anggit.
