Entering the “Supply Chain” Business, Warung Pintar Launches Applications for Wholesale Entrepreneurs

Smart Wholesale App also provides inventory management and logistics services for wholesale owners

Startups new retailSmart Shop recently inaugurated its newest innovation. Named "Grosir Pintar", the application seeks to provide access for wholesalers to carry out inventory management and reach a wider market.

Simply put, wholesalers can directly offer their merchandise to shop owners who are members of the Warung Pintar application. This new feature is also equipped with logistics services to support the delivery of goods.

"Warung Pintar directly cooperates with wholesale entrepreneurs who stand alone in each region. We do this to maintain the quality of goods and services so that they remain optimal and encourage empowerment in the entire stall ecosystem," said Warung Pintar Co-Founder & COO Harya Putra.

He further explained that for the stall owners they have access to a more varied variety of goods, including local mainstay products, at competitive prices; and can receive orders in a matter of hours through the service same day delivery.

"Delivery of goods, both for wholesalers and shop owners, is carried out by the logistics system owned by Warung Pintar. Embracing local residents to join as couriers, this is one of our efforts to revive the economy in the region as a whole by providing equal benefits ," added Harry.

The business model applied by Smart Wholesaler is profit sharing (commission based). Although he did not explain in detail, Harya explained his calculations in accordance with the agreement with wholesalers and adjusted to the established standards.

"Based on direct findings from wholesalers in the field, in the midst of this pandemic, there are physical limitations that lead to difficulties in reaching shop customers, fulfilling goods, and soaring logistics costs. That's why we embraced more than 60 of the best wholesalers in 14 city," said Harya.

Starting in Surabaya, until now, Smart Wholesale can be accessed in Jakarta, Bandung, Depok, Kediri, Mojokerto, Jember, and several other cities on the island of Java.

Through the app GoToko, decacorn Gojek also try to offer the same service to stall or grocery store owners to fulfill goods and sales products. They also take advantage of various services in their ecosystem, such as logistics with GoSend, payments via GoPay, and business management through GoBiz.

It didn't stop there, Chilibeli formerly known as social commerce targeting the C2C segment, in the middle of last year introduced Chilimart. With the B2B concept, they target micro-entrepreneurs as their target market. Besides that, there was also Ula app which was designed as marketplace for the fulfillment of merchandise in the shop. Ula is also integrated with AwanTunai's financing service.

Based on BPS data, the majority of 63 million micro entrepreneurs are engaged in retail or trading. The large potential of the economic unit provides its own spirit for digital players to work on the market.
