Bobobox Mission Change User Habits Enjoy Lodging

A capsule hotel coupled with technological convenience

More affordable costs and convenience offerings encourage capsule hotels or pods be an alternative choice for tourists. If in the past, lodging with this concept was only for urgent needs, now there are many concepts pods which is present offers features that are juxtaposed with technology.

Not only through OTA platforms, technology-oriented capsule hotels are starting to offer solutions directly with the concept direct-to-consumer. One of the players in this industry is startup smart accommodations from Bandung, Bobobox.

bobobox is a graduate of Sequoia India's accelerator program, Surge, which offers convenience to users by bringing pods equipped with an application. This application is able to help consumers control access pintu, adjustable light, safety features, bluetooth speaker, to air conditioning.

This concept is claimed to distinguish Bobobox from similar services.

"Today the world is moving fast. Long working hours and high mobility have become a lifestyle. People are traveling more than ever before. [..] At the same time, solving the saturated hotel industry unit economy is not easy. Through modularity and space efficiency, Bobobox generates more revenue per square meter," Bobobox CEO Indra Gunawan told DailySocial.

To be able to enjoy all services, users are required to use applications that can be downloaded on Google Play and the App Store. Apart from providing an excellent user experience, seamless pattern, Bobobox also wants to change the user's habit of enjoying their stay.

"We are quite proud of the uniqueness that exists. Starting from modular and pre-fabricated [easy to assemble]. Two unique standalone units, and integrated with exclusive technologies (such as smart booking, payment, check-in/out)," said Indra.

Expansion and application of technology

Currently, Bobobox is present in 8 locations spread across Bandung, Jakarta, and Semarang. This year they are targeting to add 8 other locations in Indonesia and can serve around 100 thousand users. The company also intends to add an internal team to accelerate growth.

The company has received funding Pre Series A from Alpha JWC Ventures, Genesis Ventures, and three other investors and initial funding from several investors, including Sequoia Capital India (Surge), Agaeti Ventures, and Everhaus.

"By promoting a superior user experience, seamless pattern and efficient, we can run our business without spending a lot of money. Bobobox was established to address the needs of guests for an affordable, comfortable and convenient sleeping experience and the economy of the property owner's unit," said Indra.
