This startup develops an NFC-based system to check the authenticity of a product

Just stick the phone to the item, then we can immediately know its authenticity

Increasing number and popularity of the site E-commerce certainly greatly facilitate the shopping activities of consumers. But on the other hand, this also has an impact on the ease of distribution of counterfeit products, or what we often call "KW" in the country. In fact, in 2016 it is estimated that the total transactions for counterfeit products on a global scale reach almost half a trillion dollars.

a startup from the United States named Blue Bite see an opportunity to use technology to help overcome problems like this. They designed an NFC-based system (near-field communications) which can be used to check the authenticity of a product.

So if you want to buy an Adidas Telstar 18 ball which is the official 2018 World Cup ball, you just need to attach your phone to the ball, click the button in the app, and let the authentication process take place. Everything is done in seconds, with no parts of the product to open and research.

That's because the Telstar 18 ball is embedded chip NFC, which actually serves to open a portal of extra content for consumers. Blue Bite basically just inserts an extra element where the unique identification code that each ball has can ultimately be used as an authentication method.

Industry retail himself has actually been using NFC for quite a long time, although not for authentication purposes, but to facilitate the inventory and payment processes. Blue Bite certainly can't solve this problem alone. They need full support from brand interested in adopting the system.

So far they have had at least 15 clients from various industries, from Bulgaria to fashion brands Pinko. It is hoped that in the future, this kind of system can help reduce the number of sales of counterfeit products, which actually do not have a positive effect except for the producers and sellers.
