Founded in late 2018, Sampingan is currently supported by 60 officers and build a headquarter in Jakarta. They just developed an app in the Android version, however, they are claimed to have more than 150 thousand applicants.

Sampingan was founded by three people, Wisnu Nugrahadi, Margana Mohamad, and Dimas Pramudya. Those are graduates from Padjadjaran University. Wisnu and Dimas used to be in the product and developer team at Gojek. Margana owns and runs an outsourcing business.

Previously, the founder said in an interview with DailySocial that the service was inspired by the outsourcing business model with a daily or monthly target for users. In the process, Sideways uses a similar approach, and provides income based on performance (pay per performance).
