Mandiri Capital and Investible Announce Special Climate Tech Management Fund

Part of the Indonesia Impact Fund (IIF) mandate which has invested in Cakap and Greenhope

Mandiri Capital Indonesia (MCI) and Investible have signed term sheet to establish a managed fund specifically for climate technology and innovation (climatetech).

The Mandiri Investible Global Climate Tech Fund will leverage the expertise and resources of the two venture capital companies to identify, invest and provide support to startups, in addressing the pressing issue of climate change in Southeast Asia and the Oceania region.

Significantly, up to 30% of the investment portion of the managed funds will be allocated to Indonesia.

These managed funds offer important opportunities for investors interested in fighting climate change. In line with the importance of addressing environmental issues and capitalizing on the huge growth prospects in the climate technology sector.

The investment sectors that will be targeted come from the UNEP list, such as energy, transportation, buildings and cities, industry, food and agriculture, as well as forests and land use.

This fund is a continuation of the mandate Indonesia Impact Fund (IIF) to create a greater impact in supporting the Net Zero Emissions Initiative, together with the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) and UNDP to contribute significantly to sustainable development in Indonesia. Since its launch in 2021, IIF has funded Cakap and Greenhope.

In an official statement, Mandiri Capital Indonesia Chief Investment Officer Dennis Pratistha expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with Investible because it is in line with the shared vision of advancing climate technology. This potential collaboration not only highlights Mandiri Group's commitment to Indonesia's dynamic economy and ever-growing ESG, but also shows its dedication in seeking and maintaining a breakthrough innovation climate.

"Our deep relationships with investors throughout Indonesia will be a useful foundation for this business, with the aim of improving and supporting the company's climate technology on the global stage," said Dennis, Friday (27/10).

He continued, this managed fund is a pioneer in offering sustainable investment alternatives in regions that face significant environmental challenges. Also in line with market demand in advancing regional sustainability.

“The main aim of this fund is to leverage the complementary strengths of Indonesia, Southeast Asia and Australia. Indonesia, an emerging market with significant growth potential, offers a diverse and dynamic startup landscape, while Australia offers a mature startup ecosystem with deep technology expertise.”

Investible has launched a Climate Tech Strategy since 2021. In its work, it has reviewed more than 3.200 opportunities in 20 countries implementing 19 investments to date. This alignment between leading organizations aims to contribute significantly to a low-carbon and resilient future.

Investible CEO Rod Bristow believes the fund will provide a unique combination of net zero returns and financial benefits for investors. "MCI recognizes the unique opportunities presented by Investible's early-stage investment process, methodology, global network and experience as an early-stage climate technology investor," he said.

Support was also provided by the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) represented by Chairman Anindya Bakrie. He said, this managed fund enables the foundation laid by the Indonesia Impact Fund to expand its portfolio to the Indo-Pacific region market.

"With the start of this climate-focused initiative, we are excited to continue the impactful efforts initiated by the Indonesia Impact Fund (IIF) that strengthen our collective efforts towards a sustainable and resilient future," he said.
