MNC Play Ready to Expand Smart Home Service

Household devices can be automated and accessed via an application on a smartphone.

PT MNC Kabel Mediacom (MNC Play), a subsidiary of MNC Group, revealed that it is ready to expand its Smart Home service by the end of this year. This service will go on sale at the Indocomtech 2016 annual gadget exhibition in November 2016.

Oscar Prajnaphalla, Marketing Communication Manager of MNC Play, said that currently in Indonesia, not many players who provide broadband network services are fully involved in Smart Home services, most of them are still partial, for example only providing CCTV cameras without cable TV networks, or others.

"We are ready to launch Smart Home, the plan is during the 2016 Indocomtech exhibition in November 2016," he said while visiting the office DailySocial, Monday (1/8).

The first step of the company's marketing, will offer to all customers Existing spread over six cities, some of which are Jakarta, Surabaya, Malang, Bandung, and Medan. The target market is narrowed to the upper middle class with a high level of mobility.

A new experience that is ready to be given is controlling household devices via smartphones, including CCTV cameras, home alarms, opening or closing pintu gates, curtains, turning lights and air conditioners on or off, and so on. In essence, Oscar continued, various household devices can be automated and accessed via applications on smartphones.

He is optimistic that this new service can attract the attention of consumers, given the demand (demand) already exists, but offers (supply) not yet. The fees charged are indeed quite expensive, although they cannot be disclosed to the public. According to him, the fee is only issued once when you first register.

"It's a bit pricey, but this one time only. So the fee is only issued when you register for the first time, customers will get hardwareher, installation, to installation. In the future, we will try to make installment facilities for interested customers."

In the future, the company will add a number of new features to improve services smart home. For example, setting the percentage (brightness and dim) of the lamp, setting the pass voice commands, and modify the alarm by entering a song.

New player

MNC Play is a new player in the world of network providers broadband which was born in 2014. Previously, there were several names of similar companies circulating in Indonesia, namely Indihome, First Media, CBN, Biznet, and MyRepublic. Even though it's only a young age, MNC Play has penetrated several cities that have not been touched by competitors. However, MNC Play admits that there are certain difficulties in increasing coverage, even for the city of Jakarta.

The difficulty in expanding the coverage is also one of the reasons MNC Play has not chosen the marketing channel through advertising in the media. For this reason, the company's strategy in attracting many consumers is by conducting potential market research in a housing estate, starting from measuring the area and occupants.

"We carried out a potential market research strategy, most of us targeting customers from the housing sector, by measuring the area and calculating potential customers," he concluded.
