It is estimated that 36 million art lovers dare to spend their money to enjoy the works of the creators they like

Creator appreciation platform Karyakarsa finally introduced himself to the public. Three months of preparation, this new startup claims 100 creators have joined the platform.

Introducing itself since June 2019, Karyakarsa immediately stepped on the gas by holding a discussion with the creators last Friday (13/9). On that occasion, the CEO and Founder were present Karyakarsa Ario Graduated and Advisors Pandji Pragiwaksono and Aria Rajasa.

The discussion agreed that there is an alternative income that can be enjoyed by creators from the audience of their work. Karyakarsa, adopting the Patreon concept for the local market, realizes this and tries to fill the void of a platform that can bridge creators and connoisseurs of their work.

"Try imagine Just from 1.000 people, each of them gave Rp. 10.000, they already got Rp. 10 million," said Ario, giving an example.

Creators in Indonesia are considered to have difficulties in obtaining alternative income streams besides sponsors, endorsement, or merchandise by utilizing the support base of the audience of the work. On the other hand, Karyakarsa, in his research, found that there are 36 million people who are willing to spend their money to enjoy the work of their idol creator.

Fanbase become important in Karyakarsa's crowdfunding business model. The greater the number of viewers of the work, the possibility of income entering the creator's coffers will also be greater. The crowdfunding method used by Karyakarsa is still pay as you go, meaning that the audience of the work can give money whenever and however much they want. Meanwhile, the subscription option, which was announced at the last launch, is still waiting to be implemented.

Karyakarsa itself will quote 10 percent of every transaction that occurs on their platform. "That includes transaction fees and others," added Ario.

So far, Gopay is still the only payment method that can be used at Karyakarsa--which will be followed by Ovo in the near future. Ario added that his party is also working on a bank transfer method to accommodate a larger nominal.

Of the 100 registered creators, there are 100 other creators who will soon join Karyakarsa. According to Ario, the number of creators targeted to join is 1.000 this year.

In addition to focusing on attracting more creators to join, Ario admitted that he is still looking for investors to raise Karyakarsa which is still in its infancy bootstrap this. He believes that this appreciation platform for creators can develop further considering its large market potential plus healthy competition.

"It means that there is validation, the potential is true, and our belief that fans are willing to pay for the work is true, it's just another matter who wins," concluded Ario.

Karyakarsa is currently only accessible via the site websites. Of the many creators who have joined, some of them already have big names such as comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono, comic artist Sunny Gho, illustrator Ditta Sarasvati, to content creator Bena Kribo.
