Indosat Ooredoo Collaborates with Ericsson to Demonstrate 5G Technology

In commemoration of Indosat Ooredoo's 51st anniversary, including demos of several other latest technologies

In order to celebrate its 51st anniversary, Indosat Ooredoo collaborated with Ericcson to show 5G readiness by presenting examples of the use of 5G technology. The two companies highlighted two main demos namely test beds for 5G and 3D-AR (Augmented Reality).

As stated by Director & Chief Innovation Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Arief Musta'in, 5G technology has the potential to accelerate digital transformation in various industries in Indonesia, and readiness to use 5G technology is in Indosat Ooredoo's vision to build a competitive video quality network.

“5G has the potential to accelerate digital transformation in various industries in Indonesia, as well as empower consumers with innovative applications. 5G readiness is embedded in our vision of building a competitive video quality network. Indosat Ooredoo In collaboration with Ericsson, we are proud to present demonstration examples of 5G use cases, especially the first 3D Augmented Reality experience in Indonesia which will enable innovation in various industries such as education and healthcare," said Arief.

5G technology in test beds carried out reached 10Gbps per UE (User Equipment) out of a total of 20Gbps. 5G test beds it also has beam tracking, one of 5G's flagship capabilities enabling higher capacity and performance. In addition, this technology also allows video streaming 4K to EU via 5G radio.

Meanwhile 3D-AR technology tries to provide a more immersive experience and interaction with virtual objects. The 3D-AR demo takes participants to see and interact with lifelike virtual objects such as photorealistic human anatomy and 360-degree images of planet Earth.

Indosat Ooredoo and Ericsson also present 5G demo deployment considerations and connected drones which can be attempted from a longer distance or with a predefined flight path.
