Entrepreneurship with Socio-Economic Impact Becomes the Endeavor's Focus at Scale Up Asia 2019

Entrepreneurship with a significant socio-economic impact is the focus of Endeavor Indonesia in the "Scale Up Asia 2019: Turning Point" event. Chairman of The Board Endeavor Indonesia Harun Hajadi said his party found 45 high-impact entrepreneur selected from two thousand business units throughout Indonesia.

"Through the 2019 Scale Up Asia event, Endeavor Indonesia hopes that the spirit high-impact entrepreneurship can be spread more widely in Indonesia, as well as a means of supporting the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem," said Harun.

According to Harun, the 45 entrepreneurs are leaders of 37 companies. He said their efforts had directly contributed 10 thousand jobs. This job creation is a prime example of the socio-economic impact of good entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of Infrastructure of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Hari Sungkari, added: high-impact entrepreneur needed to maintain the rate of economic growth. He said the digital economy has a potential of US$130 billion or Rp.1.832 trillion by 2025. With such a potential, entrepreneurs in the digital economy sector are expected to spearhead the national economy.

"Through the Scale Up Asia 2019 series of events, entrepreneurs not only have the opportunity to consult directly on business-related problems they face, but also have a forum to discuss issues and challenges related to the business world more comprehensively," added Hari.

Investree Co-Founder & CEO Adrian Gunadhi added that the event organized by Endeavor Indonesia helped him access international networks. "In addition, this opportunity also opens wide connections to potential parties who can be invited to work together to develop a business, as well as open up other opportunities that were previously unimaginable. In this 2019 Scale-Up Asia event, Endeavor held a series of events consisting of Pitch Up Competition, Scale Up Connect, and Scale Up Clinic. As the name suggests, this Pitch Up Competition selects the three best startups from 100 participants. Those who were chosen were pinship (logistics platform for SMEs), mospase (marketplace e-logistics and warehouse on-demand), as well as Zendmoney (service provider multi-currency accounts which makes it easier for consumers to pay).

Meanwhile, Scale Up Connect is a forum for entrepreneurs to network about the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Indonesia, which is attended by 50 international entrepreneurs. Lastly, Scale Up Clinic is a mentoring activity that focuses on five things, namely: growth strategy, fundraising, human resources, marketing & sales, and operations.
