Groupon Indonesia Wants to Be the "Top of Mind" for Lifestyle E-Commerce in 2015

In his presentation about E-Commerce and The Rise of Mobile to the media, CEO and Country Head Groupon Indonesia Indrasto Budisantoso revealed that they want to be top of mind for the lifestyle segment, which will be the focus in 2015. In addition, mobile will also be the focus because access to Groupon Indonesia via mobile this year is already higher than desktop.

Indrasto explained that as mobile-first country, Indonesia has 112% SIM card ownership, much more than savings account ownership, especially credit cards which are traditionally the most common payment method for e-commerce services in developed countries. With such high access via mobile devices, it is a PR for industry players when e-commerce users only reach 6% of the total Internet users in Indonesia.

According to him, the classic problem of e-commerce is still about trust and payment. Groupon itself has dozens of payment methods to accommodate Indonesia's unique e-commerce case. Indrasto said that Groupon is still dominant as the segment leader deals in Indonesia, although reluctant to disclose the real figures.

Groupon Indonesia itself stated that 2014 was the first time that access via mobile was higher than desktop, slightly above the 50% range. Last year, consumers still more access to Groupon via desktop, especially during working hours. Indrasto believes that this comparison will continue to grow, along with the decline in the price of mobile devices and the increasing quality of technology, including the adoption of LTE which promises faster and more stable access.

Groupon itself will soon publish an update of its application on the iOS and Android platforms to improve the consumer experience in shopping deals.

Indrasto also ensured that in 2015 he wanted to focus on the lifestyle segment (lifestyle). Indrasto said, "2015 is clearly a lot of fun. We will focus so that e-commerce of lifestyle. In our vision we are want to people think about lifestyle or hanging out think about Groupon first. Why? There's something on Groupon related with hanging out local vouchers most complete. We are there too lifestyle related products also quite a lot."

He further added, "On Groupon also available (packages) traveling which is quite varied which we make sure according to his taste lifestyle segments our. That segment is us sets start early 20s to late 30s. (they are) Lifestyle segment which we will focus on working on in 2015."
