Google and Yahoo Ready to Overtake Twitter in Competition for Flipboard

A few days ago news appeared saying Twitter was interested in buying Flipboard, a magazine-style news aggregator service that has and has expanded its presence to several platform. Over time it turned out that Twitter wasn't the only one with an interest.

The WSJ via Thenextweb reports that Google and Yahoo are also participating in the hunt for Flipboard. It further said that Google and Yahoo executives had separately met with Flipboard to discuss a possible acquisition.

Before the Wall Street Journal released its report, Twitter was said to be ready to spend up to $1 billion to get the signatures of Flipboard executives. But unfortunately the talks stopped in April last.

The emergence of the names of the two search engine giants, Google and Yahoo is not impossible to boost Flipboard's selling point. But it is not known how much dowry the two are ready to disburse, no matter how much Flipboard is asking for.

In terms of user statistics, Flipboard is quite impressive. In February 2015 they crossed the 50 million active user mark. And just a few months later, as of May 2015, the number of active Flipboard users rose dramatically to 65 million.

Not in vain, Flipboard investors were willing to invest $160 million in December 2013.

Not yet clear what the goals and plans of Yahoo or Google so eager to get Flipboard. However, if you look at the concept of the Flipboard service, it seems that these two internet giants want to use it to increase user activity through the aggregation of content provided.
