Farmer's Logistics Application Will Be Launched for More Accurate Data on Food Commodities

The data that has been released by BPS is not quite valid, because it is often not in accordance with field conditions

In order to improve the accuracy of information in the national agriculture and food sector, the National Economic and Industry Committee (KEIN) in collaboration with PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) will present an application called "Farm Logistics". This application will collect information about the level of food production and stock available at farmers, distributors, storage centers and markets throughout Indonesia real-time.

Become one initiative driver This "fast motion" was released because the data collected by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) often contradicted the situation on the ground. So the prices of basic necessities are difficult to monitor. This information is very much needed by the government to produce policies, such as import policies or market operations.

This step was also taken to address the uncertainty of agro commodity data in Indonesia. This application will be developed and operated (from the management side) by Telkom. While the main user is BPS, which is for the need for fast data updates for more precise data inference. However, according to Telkom's Digital and Portfolio Strategy Division Director Indra Utoyo, this application can later be used by a wider audience, both stakeholder or farmers in the field.

Benny Pasaribu, as the Head of KEIN in the food sector, said that this application will provide valid data about commodities, clearly and accurately, not just estimates. In addition to displaying data, the Tani Logistics application will also record changes in commodities.

"Dashboard The Farmer's Logistics application will later be installed at the KEIN office. Therefore, the President will also be able to see the condition of the latest commodities, both beef, the availability of food stocks and so on in the regions," said Benny as quoted by Antara. Time.

It is proper for domestic industries and commodities to get full support from infrastructure side and support strategy like this, to avoid misunderstandings caused by inaccurate data Update. A concise and structured system is one solution, because conventional data collection models are indeed very unsuitable when faced with increasingly fierce industrial competition, while farmers in various islands are already producing as well as possible.
