Telkomsel Immediately Commercialize 4G TDD Service Early December 2017

It will be directed to areas with dense tariff users, promise that service rates will not increase even if you use the new spectrum

Telecom operators Telkomsel stated that they were ready to commercialize 4G TDD (Time Division Duplex) services in early December 2017, after obtaining a Certificate of Operationalworthiness (SKLO) from the Director General of Post and Telecommunications. The letter contained a statement that Telkomsel has complied with the operational eligibility requirements for telecommunications operations in the 2,3 GHz frequency.

Previous, Telkomsel has been declared the winner of the spectrum auction for the 2,3 GHz frequency worth IDR 1 trillion at the end of October 2017. Since then, Telkomsel intensively carry out a series of activities so that customers can experience the 2,3 GHz TDD technology.

"We continue to move after the announcement of the winner of the spectrum auction for the 2,3 GHz frequency, so that customers can experience the mobile broadband experience Telkomsel which is even better. The adjustment of the cellular mobile network permit has also been completed and has been determined by the Ministry of Communication and Information," said the President Director Telkomsel Ririek Adriansyah, Tuesday (28/11).

He continued, for the time being the technology can be felt by users Telkomsel which is located in Teras Kota, Tangerang. Next, it will gradually be present in Tangerang, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi starting in early December 2017. Not only that as many as 500 LTE TDD BTS will also be present in Palembang and Bandung.

Then next year, BTS LTE TDD will be present in other cities throughout Indonesia which have a fairly high density of data service access.

"We're kinda struggling because the available spectrum is limited while the number of data subscribers Telkomsel keep growing. This is inferior to Singapore, the spectrum is much larger than Indonesia. The presence of this new spectrum will certainly make Telkomsel become more efficient, for example allocation Capex in the future."

Ririek also ensures that this new spectrum will not only make companies increase data rates. According to him, the increase was adjusted by many factors, but not from the spectrum.

When detailed, the frequency allocation currently owned Telkomsel as follows: frequency 2,3 GHz with a bandwidth of 30 MHz, a frequency of 2,1 GHz with a bandwidth of 15 MHz, a frequency of 1,8 GHz with a bandwidth of 22,5 MHz, a frequency of 900 MHz with a bandwidth of 7,5 MHz, and 800 MHz frequency with 7,5 MHz bandwidth

Guarantee the speed of video consumption

Explanation of TDD by Vice President Technology and System Telkomsel Indra Mardiatna / Telkomsel

Ririek said, the impact that can be felt by customers Telkomsel of the presence of this new spectrum is the velocity of the moment video streaming so it's smoother, from standard quality it can go up to HD quality. What's more, about 70% customers Telkomsel classified as actively downloading or uploading videos on their devices.

"So that no there are more streaming videos buffer Keep going. experienceIt's the same as when riding a car, what used to be in a regular car has now gone up great car. That's the analogy."

On the other hand, customers will also not be bothered to change the SIM card from 3G to 4G. As long as the handset used is supported with LTE TDD frequency of 2,3 GHz and is within the service coverage of LTE TDD 2,3 GHz. This spectrum is claimed to provide better downlink throughput services due to the large bandwidth used.

Currently, there are about 50 million LTE handsets in the network Telkomsel, about 85 percent of them already support 2,3 GHz LTE TDD. In total, there are more than 3 thousand smartphone devices that support this service.

Around the world, there are 100 telecommunication operators that already utilize TDD LTE. This technology is also included in the roadmap to 5G implementation.
