Shopee Provides Digital Business Training for Vocational High School Students in West Java

Shopee today inaugurated a collaboration with the West Java Provincial Government through the West Java Provincial Education Office to present a Digital Business Development Training program that was given to 406 teachers and more than 26.000 students in 206 Vocational High Schools (SMK) in West Java. The program, which started in September 2021, was presented as an effort to prepare human resources in West Java to support digital transformation in Indonesia towards Industry 4.0. In the future, this young generation is also expected to have the ability and willingness to become a catalyst in helping more local MSMEs to be skilled in building digital businesses and take part in the growing digital economy.

The Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, who was present at the inauguration ceremony, expressed his appreciation for Shopee. “A successful future is a future that comes from good planning. Today we are preparing a good plan to realize two good futures. The first is a healthy society and away from the pandemic. This is realized through a mobile vaccine car from Shopee which will reach areas whose citizens have difficulty in mobility and we will visit. The second is the future of the digital economy which has increased by 40% during the pandemic, but there are still challenges, namely the readiness of the community to enter the digital economy. The concrete participation of Shopee by realizing an adaptive curriculum is expected to be able to prepare human resources in West Java who are ready to welcome the future 4.0. Shopee has helped West Java during the COVID-19 crisis, helped increase vaccine targets and helped prepare human resources. Thank you to the Shopee big family," he explained.

Head of the West Java Provincial Education Office, H. Dedi Supandi, S.STP., MSi said, “Synergy with various parties in improving the digital skills of education actors is very important. The Digital Business Development Training that we present together with Shopee is a good initiative regarding how we can help education actors in Indonesia to be more ready to do business online. This collaboration is also expected to have a positive impact on local MSMEs. We thank Shopee for their cooperation, and hope that this will be a good start for the world of Indonesian education, as well as helping local MSMEs to grow as well.”

Shopee hopes that the young generation who are trained are expected to be catalysts for a sustainable digital economy. The younger generation who are trained on digital business are expected to be able to help more local MSMEs to also be able to enter the online trading platform, so they can grow with Shopee. This program will be carried out online and distributed evenly to all Vocational Schools in West Java Province starting from September 2021. Previously, Shopee and the West Java Provincial Government had also launched the Shopee Export MSME Campus in West Java, and targeted 100.000 West Java MSMEs. can export with Shopee until 2022.
