Migo and Indonesia Mengajar Provide Support to Teachers during the Pandemic Through Mixed Learning Training

Blended learning methods (face-to-face and online learning) are being implemented by the government to overcome the impact of learning loss during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To maximize this new learning method, Migo – the world's first offline network to distribute various digital entertainment and educational content – collaborated with Indonesia Mengajar in providing “Mixed learning training for National Teachers”.

“Migo contributed directly to the recovery from the current learning loss. Through this training, teaching staff can implement effective teaching through online or face-to-face media,” said Dan Connor, President Director of Migo Indonesia.

Migo and Indonesia Mengajar realize that there is a need for adaptive, creative and flexible tools and methods that can be implemented during this mixed learning period.

On this occasion, Patrick Samuel who is a Learning and Development Consultant as well as the main resource person said that there are some tips that can be done by teachers in starting mixed learning, "Educational staff are advised to make clear and complete instructions, convey daily plans during class, learn the technology needed, use connections that can accommodate learning, create interactive activities, and build connections with students.”

In addition, in practice, teachers are also recommended to distinguish between face-to-face and virtual types of learning. Face-to-face learning is a time that can be used to form relationships between teachers and classmates, teach complex material, and explore student learning outcomes when studying at home.

Through online learning, in addition to providing an explanation of the lesson, the teacher can also invite students to review the material provided, encourage students to learn independently through an experiment or research, and encourage students to apply the practice.

"We give our highest appreciation to Migo who cares and directly supports capacity building and teacher adjustment in this pandemic situation. In addition, we are very happy with the innovation that Migo has developed to be able to help teachers and parents in the process of developing the nation's education,” said Haiva Muzdalifa, Managing Director of Indonesia Mengajar.

Migo Belajar – as a place for digital educational content for those with limited internet access – continues to help develop the nation's education through digital content and educational activities that can be accessed offline.

Dan Connor added, "With the existence of Migo Learning, it is hoped that it can reach all levels of society, both to broaden the horizons of students, to become a new method of teaching for teaching staff, as well as to assist the government in building the quality of national education."

Quoting what was said by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia, Nadiem Makarim, that education is one of the important indicators for a developing country. Therefore, a fast and effective learning system is needed during this pandemic, so that it can help improve the development of children's competencies for the future of the nation.
