Gojek and Kominfo Signed a Memorandum of Understanding: Accelerating Indonesia's Digital Transformation

Gojek again to strengthen commitment and support for the government's mission to accelerate digital transformation. This commitment was confirmed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Gojek and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) regarding the Acceleration of Digital Transformation through Education and Training for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the General Public.

The MoU focuses on three main areas, namely accelerating digital HR competencies, increasing digital literacy in society, and accelerating digital transformation in the economic and business sectors. Support Gojek This is in line with efforts to accelerate the implementation of the Digital Indonesia Roadmap for 2021-2024 which was announced by Kominfo as a guide for implementing digital transformation in four (4) pillars, namely digital infrastructure, digital government, digital society, and digital economy. To encourage the downstream or utilization of digital technology, Kominfo consistently provides a series of digital-based training to the public, and in its implementation collaborates with various parties, ranging from government agencies, business actors including digital platforms, academia, communities, to the media.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia, Mira Tayyiba, during the press conference signing the MoU revealed that Kominfo collaborated with PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa to carry out several agendas related to accelerating digital transformation, including education and training for MSMEs and the general public according to the direction of the President in where digitizing MSMEs is one of the priority agendas. We hope that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on accelerating digital transformation through education and training for MSMEs and the general public which was carried out today can contribute significantly to the process of digitizing MSMEs in Indonesia, as well as mapping resilient and innovative digital human resources. Let's synergize and collaborate with each other to carve out a more advanced and connected future for Indonesia. The more digital, the more advanced."

The support stated in the Memorandum of Understanding will be realized through three main pillars, namely increasing digital security literacy for the community and MSMEs, digitizing MSMEs, and training digital human resources and startups. These three pillars will be implemented in various intermediate programs Gojek with various directorates, agencies and institutions under Kominfo:

  1. Intensive education and training with Sibercreation to support digitally-savvy MSMEs through educational content in various media on topics such as:

    1. MSMEs Ready to Advance Armed with Digital Security Competence;

    2. Tips for Attracting Customers and Safe Content on the Internet; and

    3. Innovation Strategy for Culinary MSMEs.

During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, Gojek and Kominfo also launched a Public Service Announcement regarding digital security which is a form of collaboration in the field of education.

  1. Digital Talent Scholarship, GoNusantara Class and Digital Entrepreneurship Academy (DEA) which will provide digital entrepreneurship training in the form of interactive workshops to thousands of participants. This variety of training programs is in line with Kominfo's commitment to accelerate the competence of national digital human resources, targeting 300.000 trained/certified digital human resources by 2024. President Joko Widodo himself has stated that Indonesia needs 9.000.000 digital talents by 2035.

  2. Collaboration with BAKTI for MSME training and onboarding in areas outside Java, in eight (8) cities offline and online.

  3. Collaboration to foster the seeds of Indonesian startup companies in the 1000 Digital Startup Program.

The three main areas are the focus of collaboration Gojek with Kominfo is considered a vital element in accelerating digital transformation. Not only can they boost the national economy, these three areas will also help maximize Indonesia's potential as a digital economic powerhouse in the Southeast Asia region. The 2020 McKinsey study revealed that digitalization of MSMEs has the potential to contribute to the national economy of up to 140 billion USD by 2030.

The range of support provided Gojek will further complement the various digital transformation efforts that have previously been carried out by Gojek and its ecosystem, especially for MSMEs. Especially in an effort to recover from the pandemic, GoTo, the largest technology group in Indonesia that combines on-demand services, e-commerce, as well as financial services and payments through brands Gojek, Tokopedia, and GoTo Financial, invite all Indonesian people to rise together during this pandemic through the #BangkitBersama movement. As part of the GoTo ecosystem, Gojek has helped increase digital economy literacy and adoption for more than 250 thousand MSMEs in Indonesia during the pandemic.

Not only that, Gojek also encourage MSMEs to be more literate about digital security. Since 2020, Gojek is the first digital platform to collaborate on an ongoing basis with the National Cyber-Creative Literacy Movement in educational efforts around digital security literacy to date. This effort is in line with the government's target of digital literacy for 50 million people by 2024.
