Another Classic Game Reboot Hits Kickstarter: BattleTech

While enjoying themed games wick like Titanfall, gamer veterans may soon be reminded of the MechWarrior's heyday. But you know, MechWarrior is just spin off from franchise BattleTech science fiction introduced by Jordan Weisman in the 80s. More than three decades later, he intends to reinvent his creation.

Make use of the site through crowdfunding and still excited about Shadowrun's success, the designers and the indie team Harebrained Schemes started working on the BattleTech project. Franchise born in the form of presentation tabletop, transformed into video game, then was adapted into hundreds of novels and television series films. For this latest title, Weisman decided to return to the original vision of BattleTech.

Players will be transported to the year 3025, in the midst of a protracted conflict between the five feuding Great Noble Houses. The backbone of their military are giant robots called BattleMechs, the deadliest war vehicles on the battlefield. Two centuries on, resources were running low and the number of BattleMechs was drastically reduced. So rare, the war machine is considered a valuable commodity, passed down from generation to generation.

But unlike Hawken, MechWarrior or Titanfall, BattleTech doesn't focus on aspects action only. It is presented in gender Strategy turn-based single player, requires players to think tactically, and focus on narrative. I'm curious how developer Harebrained Schemes pours the storytelling aspect on gameplay, because the world of BattleTech is quite Game of Thrones, full of political intrigue and betrayal.

Players will lead an army of mercenaries; and as it goes game, you can manage your team, buy weapons or mech chassis new, as well as implementing upgrade and customize BattleMechs. Each pilot, called a MechWarrior, has its own skills and specialties. At this stage of development, Harebrained is also collaborating with Piranha Games (developer MechWarrior Online) to work on robot models.

If the BattleTech fundraiser hits the target stretch next, fashion campaign the plan is to be extended, then Weisman and team want to add a mode multiplayer PvP. So far, Harebrained Schemes has raised over US$1,1 million, far exceeding its initial target of US$250.000.

BatteTech is slated to launch in May 2017, still a long way off, at platform Windows PC, Mac and Linux. You can order digital copyher now by becoming backers di Kickstarter.
