Yahoo Shop Again, Buy Xobni . Address Book Service

Marissa Mayer seems still eager to revitalize Yahoo by purchasing various other services that are deemed to be able to strengthen Yahoo's portfolio. After last acquire Qwiki, a day later news emerged of a new acquisition, namely the Xobni smart address book service.

According to TechCrunch, the acquisition value this time is 60 million US dollars, not far from Qwiki's rumored 50 million dollar value, but it's not as fancy. Tumblr purchases which reached 1.1 billion dollars.

The Xobni service itself will mostly continue to run until next year, July 2, 2014. But currently users can no longer register as premium Xobni users, and the Smartr Contacs service for Android and Blackberry has been discontinued. Several other services will continue to be improved and updated, the full list of which can be seen at Xobni help page.

Before being bought by Yahoo, since its founding in 2006 Xobni itself has received three times injections of funds from investors, including from Khosla Ventures, First Round Capital, Blackberry Partners Fund, and others.
