Warunk Upnormal Releases "Pay at Table", Payment by Application-Based QR Code

Currently only connected to Go-Pay as an alternative payment

The food and beverage outlet from Bandung Warunk Upnormal presents a non-cash payment innovation with a "Pay at Table" QR code scanner that can be accessed via the Upnormal application. This innovation is to answer the needs of consumers who come from millennials and Generation Z who are adaptive to technological developments.

Consumers do not need to queue in front of the cash register every time they order a menu. Simply download the Upnormal app, available on Google Play and iOS, and register. At each table there is a QR code that can be scanned via the application, it will automatically be connected to the food menu screen and ready to be selected.

In this application, there are options for payment by cash at the cashier or by Go-Pay. If you choose Go-Pay, you will be directed directly to the Go-Pay page to complete the payment. This method is considered more efficient than before, consumers enter manually through a piece of paper containing the menu and queue at the cashier before the order is delivered.

"In this CRP Group, we always innovate and focus on creating consumer experience that reliable. There is a desire from our target market, namely the millennial group who need something cool and contemporary. Finally, we answer that with the Pay at Table feature to accommodate those who don't want to move from their seats," explained Deputy Director Corporate Communication of CRP Group Sarita Sutedja, Wednesday (20/3).

Warunk Upnormal is one of nine brands under the auspices of Cita Rasa Prima (CRP Group). Other brands are Mafia Spice Fried Rice, Boedjangan Meatballs, Karmila Special Sambal, Fish Wow Cheese, Clean Blessing Chicken, Abang Sayang Meatballs, Masculine Martabak, and Juice Kidding.

Not only makes it easier from the consumer side, this innovation also makes it easier for the team to provide optimal service. The waiting time was also shortened, so in the end the team was able to deliver orders in no time.

For now, this feature can only be used at Warunk Upnormal outlets located at Indofood Tower (Jakarta) and Dipati Ukur (Bandung). Implementation in other outlets will be slowly rolled out throughout this year.

New outlets that are ready to operate, he continued, will most likely adopt this feature first. In total, there are currently 97 Warunk Upnormal outlets spread throughout Indonesia. It is targeted that there will be an additional 100 new outlets this year.

In the future, the company will open other non-cash payment options so that consumers have more choices. However, for this initial stage, it starts with Go-Pay, because it has a fairly high active user base.

Sarita continued, regarding the development of features in the application, the focus will be on the loyalty program. Consumers will be invited to collect points every time they make transactions and can be exchanged for a number of benefits. This application has been released since October 2018 and has attracted around 30 thousand active users.

Adopt other technology

Not only for external needs, internally the group also began to use the latest technology to stay in line with technological developments. Sarita said the company is collaborating with game studio Agate for the development of interactive games for employee training.

In this game, employees will be given directions regarding the presentation of orders and how to cook according to the dose. The visuals are the same as when playing cooking cooking games. Internally, this method has been used to train Warunk Upnormal employees, but it is only limited to self-owned outlets, not yet for outlets franchise partner's.

"Because the outlets of this partner have a very wide scope, as far as Gorontalo. To hold the training session it takes a lot of time and money, not to mention if there are changes to the SOP. We are still perfecting this game application and then releasing it for partner training."
