Receives Funding from CyberAgent Ventures, Short Film Presenting Platform Viddsee Wants To Expand Market Share

Developing technology and increasing the number of short film curations are Viddsee's main strategies

After officially launching the app for platforms on iOS and Android, Viddsee Singapore-based short film presentation platform developer startup has received funding again, this time from CyberAgent Ventures with a total value of $2,3 million. This investment was disbursed by CyberAgent Ventures on the basis of Viddsee's potential to become a platform that the public likes, by providing a different experience in terms of enjoying quality short films.

"We hope that our investment will allow Viddsee to realize its potential and commitment to continue to grow through accessibility and interest from the market," said CyberAgent Ventures spokesman Takahiro Suzuki.

Later, the funding will be used by Viddsee to develop cinema technology on the mobile platform. So far, Viddsee has been here to make it easy for users to do things streaming quality curated short films. By using a specific hashtag or doing a search according to the genre of the film you like . For mobile applications, in the near future Viddsee will release several new features in the form of a content filtering system that can be adjusted according to film duration, language and other variables.

“Since the founding of Viddsee two years ago we have seen a lot of rapid growth in the audience for short films, now the audience has reached 500.000 people per film, or the equivalent of 3,000 film screenings (in theaters) with a full audience,” said Co-founder Viddsee. Derek Tan.

Armed with his experience as a filmmaker as well as a software developer, Derek Tan and his partner Ho Jia Jian began to develop an online video platform with the concept of hybrid so that it can be enjoyed on various types of devices, both computers and mobile devices. Viddsee consistently continues to curate unique and varied short films from across the Asian region.

Viddsee sees countries in Asia such as Indonesia, Taiwan, Philippines and Singapore as markets that have the potential to bring their business to grow. Viddsee also plans to explore partnerships with filmmakers in the United States as more and more US users access content on Viddsee.

The mobile application on Viddsee makes the moment of watching short films more personal, anytime and anywhere with just smartphone. With the access available on Viddsee the cinema experience is no longer passive, Viddsee has created a product that allows for the participation of users in the film industry, and will continue to communicate through strategic editorial channels.

Derek again revealed Viddsee's plans to widen partnerships with filmmakers in Indonesia, and reach more Viddsee users in Indonesia. Marketing that has been done by Viddsee at this time includes creating social media channels and editorial page specifically for the Indonesian market.

"Currently Viddsee has carried out a series of collaborations with the film community, filmmakers and most importantly localizing our marketing content specifically for users in Indonesia," said Derek.
