Announce Latest Collaboration, Grab Support the Realization of the Electric Vehicle Ecosystem in Indonesia

Pollution-free convoy with electric vehicle fleet Grab Indonesia marks a collaboration with Indonesia's Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia to facilitate research and concrete action to participate in reducing carbon emissions.

Basically, technology is developed to accelerate people's lives. One of the implementations is in the environmental sector, through innovation and collaboration to reduce the impact of carbon emissions. Speaking of innovative collaborations, Grab Indonesia recently announced its latest collaboration with Intelligent Transport System (ITS) Indonesia and World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia, in an effort to develop an environmentally friendly transportation system.

Entering the global agenda - including Indonesia - handling carbon emissions is one of the main issues to realize the welfare of the world community that is sustainable. The use of electric vehicles is an example of how technology is considered capable of addressing climate and environmental issues with the transition method to clean energy. In his statement, Grab Indonesia started this innovation through a collaborative initiative with ITS Indonesia and WRI Indonesia, in smoothing commitment and real action to support joint efforts in presenting environmentally friendly transportation.

As a platform super app, Support Grab Indonesia has contributed to this effort by launching 20 Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Stations (SPBKLU) points in DKI Jakarta, and 7 SPBKLU points in Bali Province. Meanwhile, Grab also provides a fleet of more than 8,500 electric vehicles, which are claimed to be able to reduce around 4.600 tons of carbon emissions, or the equivalent of absorbing CO2 from 200 thousand trees a year.

"We are ready to support Indonesia to make a big leap in developing the country's electric vehicle ecosystem and strengthen this commitment with ITS and WRI. Use of electric vehicles Grab has started since 2019 with the #StepHijau program and currently we operate 8.500 units of electric vehicles in several cities. We will continue to support the increase in the use of electric vehicles by targeting our total fleet to be more than 14.000 this year, so that electric vehicles are more affordable and easily accessible to the public," said Ridzki.
