UKode Hackathon Officially Selects 5 Finalists With the Best Innovations for Climate Change

These five UKode Hackathon finalists are considered to have the best innovations for climate change issues

The UKode Hackathon 2021 event has entered the next series. After opening the registration process, supported by the inspiring webinar series “Tech to Impact”, UKode Hackathon 2021 has officially announced 5 (five) selected digital talents with the best innovations for climate change.

A glimpse of the process of the hackathon, which has been held since February, begins with the registration process and the acceptance of ideas that come from various parties. As an inspiring form of support, the event, which was initiated by the UK-Indonesia Tech Hub, also held a webinar series which was held in early March. Two series of webinars have been run with the theme “Tech to Impact”, where inspirational discussions to encourage innovation from digital talents for climate change issues.

After the official registration process was closed some time ago, now it is time for UKode Hackathon 2021 to enter the next process, where five teams have been selected and meet the initial assessment criteria to continue the increasingly lively UKode Hackathon 2021 competition level. The five teams are: Eternal (Eternal Plastic), Tanam Aja, Bot 2 Life, Trasvy, Powerbrain Indonesia. Here's a brief profile.

  • Eternal (Eternal Plastic)

Departing from the issue of plastic waste. The team, led by three founders from various backgrounds, built a technology-based solution that utilizes plastic waste that can be processed into modular furniture. This creative idea is also supported by Augmented Reality (AR) technology for product simulation purposes.

  • Plant it

Tanam Aja is a platform to remind the importance of planting trees in order to tackle the issue of air pollution that is commonly encountered these days. The platform, which is built in the form of a mobile application, is also planned to offer a reward program for its users. If nothing goes wrong, the Tanam Aja application will be released for Android and iOS devices.

  • Bot2Life

The massive use of messaging applications in the community is clearly considered a reliable medium to spread the message of goodness. Like Bot2Life, this bot creation uses popular short messaging applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and so on to spread messages related to climate change issues.

  • Retainer of the Archipelago (Trasvy)

The issue of waste management became the main issue raised by the Punggawa Nusantara team with their creative product idea called Trasvy. In accordance with its abbreviation, namely Trash Value Recycle (Trasvy), this platform was built with the mission of fixing waste management which is still a problem around us.

  • Indonesian powerbrain

In addition to having an impact on the environment, good energy management can also be utilized for MSMEs. This idea became the forerunner of Powerbrain Indonesia in developing a Smart Energy Management System for MSMEs to accelerate their business by reducing the level of energy consumption.

After sorting the five teams, the next series of UKode Hackathon 2021 is now entering the final judging stage, before on March 17, 2021, the winner of this competition will be announced. In addition to receiving prizes, the winners of this competition will also have the opportunity to connect with the International Tech – Hub Network (ITHN) of the United Kingdom Government, which will help the winners to connect globally and open up opportunities for international collaboration.

Okkie Nikijuluw as Head of UK-Indonesia Tech Hub said, UKode Hackathon was an interesting experience, and he hoped that this event would be able to produce innovative technology-based products for various world problems.

The UK-Indonesia Tech Hub hopes that this will become a trend to encourage more digital talents to think of innovative technological solutions to tackle global problems related to climate change. Hopefully the winners of the UKode Hackathon 2021 can develop their business and also raise awareness in Indonesia that climate change is true and is happening. Hopefully it can also help to remind us that only we can make changes for our future," said Okkie.
