UberX Service Officially Operates in Jakarta with Cheaper Fares Than Regular Taxis

Even if it's time stumble Due to regulatory problems with the government, Uber's private vehicle ordering service is not desperate to expand its business in Jakarta. As of today, Uber officially launched the UberX service (UberRakyat) as an alternative transportation service at a more affordable price, even cheaper than the cost of using a taxi. Previously, only UberBlack vehicles served consumers in Jakarta.

According to Uber Southeast Asia General Manager Mike Brown, the Uber community continues to grow rapidly over time. Regulatory problems are something they usually encounter, but with a more intensive approach it is no longer a problem. Regarding the market in Jakarta, UberX will serve the Jakarta market with a cheaper and wider segment.

In fact, the UberX service does not lower any quality standards that have been set by Uber. The difference lies in the type of car used. UberX has standard Toyota Avanza cars, while UberBlack has standard Toyota Innova (and more luxurious) as its service. The price offered is also more friendly in the pocket of the Indonesian people. There is also a Split Fare feature that allows you to share the total cost with your traveling companions.

UberX is claimed to be 35% cheaper when compared to UberBlack. With UberX fares that are cheaper than regular taxis, UberX will become a new controversy in relation to regulators, in this case the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov). We are waiting for how the provincial government responds to this UberX service.

Here is the UberX and UberBlack fare comparison table:

Users who want to try UberX can start using their Uber app right away without any updates. Even so, currently the service area is still quite limited in Jakarta, namely around Senopati, Kuningan, Kemang, and Menteng. In the future, the area coverage is expected to expand further in line with the increasing market demand.

A few days ago Uber has also released a service UberBlack in Bali. Mike Brown himself is quite enthusiastic about the market in Bali. Bali is considered an international tourist spot and Uber is ready to accommodate all local and foreign people who want to travel on the island of the Gods. Not even a month after starting its service in Bali, Uber is trying to focus on the area around Seminyak for a start. It chose to improve the quality of service in a narrow area rather than rushing to expand its services.
