Tokopedia Becomes One of the Companies with the Fastest Revenue Growth in Asia Pacific

Tokopedia, one of the Indonesian technology companies recently succeeded in bringing Indonesia into the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™ Asia Pacific 2020 list for the first time. Tokopedia is ranked 94th out of 500 technology companies, with the fastest revenue growth in Asia Pacific. Tokopedia is also reported to be the only Indonesian company included in this year's list.

This achievement achieved by Tokopedia is calculated based on the percentage of revenue growth for the past three years. During this period, Tokopedia has managed to grow by 608%. When viewed as a whole, the companies included in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™ Asia Pacific 2020 list are companies with an average growth rate of 551%.  

According to Mike Horne, Private Leader from Asia Pacific Deloitte commented that to get a position in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™ is an achievement that should be appreciated because technology companies to date are very competitive and continue to change. In the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™ qualification and selection, participants must have a minimum standard annual operating income of US$50.000 and must qualify as a public or private company headquartered in Asia Pacific. Not only that, the company must also be defined as a company that has a significant contribution to technological progress and has a focus on its development.

Tokopedia Becomes the Most Accessed Marketplace 

According to Similarweb, Tokopedia is marketplace the most accessed on the internet during the 1st quarter of 2021, making Tokopedia one of the most popular marketplace industries in the country, ahead of Shopee, Bukalapak, Lazada and Blibli which are also ranked in the top five consecutively.

According to percentage data reported from Similarweb, Tokopedia has succeeded in controlling marketplace traffic in Indonesia by 32,04% in January 2021, and continues to increase at 33,07% until March 2021 with the number of monthly visits reaching 126,4 million. Followed by Shopee in second place with traffic shares by 29,73% in March 2021, where this percentage decreased compared to traffic shares Shopee in January 2021 which reached 29,78%. Throughout the first quarter of 2021, Shopee managed to pocket 117 million monthly visits. In the top three, marketplace Bukalapak's homeland succeeded in controlling traffic shares by 7,79% and recorded a monthly visit of 31,27 million. 

This pandemic has undeniably brought a strong influence on the growth of digital adoption in society. Because, during the pandemic, shopping online increasingly becoming an alternative for the community to meet needs while reducing the risk of spreading the virus in crowded places during this pandemic.
