6 Tips for Maintaining Privacy and Securing Facebook Accounts

  • Login alerts is a security feature designed to provide an early alarm when your account is accessed from a foreign device or browser. To activate it, click Settings - Security - Security and Login - Setting up Extra Security - get alert about unrecognized logins.

  • Next mark on options Get notifications and email login alerts. That way, every time your account is accessed from a new device, you'll get a notification on your email and Facebook notifications.

Enable 2-Factor Authentication

  • This feature will make your phone a second layer of authentication when you or anyone else tries login to your account. Without the correct passcode, no one can access the account even including you.

  • Still on the panel Settings - Security - Security and Login - Two-factor authentication. then follow the activation procedure. It's quite easy, you will be asked to add an active mobile number and perform initial verification.

 

End Session on All Devices

  • Facebook also provides features Where You're Logged In which has a button to end all sessions Login. That is, if you use this feature then all devices that are in a position login will exit automatically.
  • Entered into Settings - Security - Security and Login then click Where You're logged In and click Log out all sessions.

Choose a Trusted Friend

  • This step is not mandatory, but just in case there is nothing wrong. You can set up the Trusted Contacts feature just in case someone hacks your account and you're having trouble logging in again. How it works, you choose a trusted friend who can later help you reclaim the hacked account.
  • This feature is still on the panel Settings - Security, find menu Your Trusted Contacts then click Choose trusted contacts then add the names of friends you think can be trusted.

 

Limit Timeline Privacy

Facebook has also prepared tool which you can use to prevent timeline flooded with trash or sale status. If it is activated, then only certain people can add status on the timeline or tag you.
