Will hold Wonder Tech activities, launch comprehensive cooperation with 500 startups

The problem of the still minimal number of women working in the world of technology until now has received the spotlight from startups to executives in technology companies in Indonesia. However, the increasing number of startups and the increasing number of vacancies for engineer, apparently not accompanied by an increase in the number of women who work as engineer.

In an article posted by Jakarta Post, Head of Digital Product Manager of Tokopedia Devy Pranowo revealed, the technology world has never seen gender, meaning that everyone can learn and try to work as an engineer.

However, the fact is that up to now the startup world and technology in the country, there is still a shortage of enthusiasts who come from among women to be involved engineer. One way to attract the attention of women who are interested in filling technical positions is for companies to be more open in terms of recruitment, not just focus on engineer men but also women.

Seeing the problem Angel Investment Network Indonesia (ANGIN) then initiated Wonder Tech activities. an event that aims to understand the problem and try to find the best solution so that more women enter the world of technology, supported by startups in Indonesia.

“After meeting with Lazada Co-CEO Florian Holm, Khailee Ng from 500 Startups and several friends from E-commerce, we decided to do something to bring more women into the world of technology especially among executives. Florian from Lazada always complains about the small number of women during internal executive meetings, as a first step we will carry out these activities in the near future,” said ANGIN Director David Soukhasing to DailySocial.

The event will present several female figures who have been successful in their business in Indonesia to discuss the potential and the best solutions for women in the technology world.

"We will invite around 150 people to attend a simple event which will be filled with interesting interactions and discussions about women's issues in the technology world," said David.

Expanding cooperation with strategic partners

As a network of angel investors in Indonesia, ANGIN is increasingly cooperating with related parties. In addition to Garena, Lazada, GO-Jek, and Facebook, currently ANGIN and 500 Startups have carried out strategic collaborations, one of which is by placing 500 Startups Venture Partner Ashraf Sinclair as an angel investor in ANGIN.

“Previously WIND has done co-invest with 500 Startups, based on a recommendation from Khailee Ng (Managing Partner of 500 Startups) we at ANGIN hope that Ashraf can become a mentor for the fashion, culinary, celebrity and technology-based lifestyle industries and enter the industry. seed stages, said David.

In the future, ANGIN and 500 Startups will launch their collaboration by holding several activities, one of which is the WonderTech in Jakarta.
