The Reasons Behind Failed to Establish a Startup

Summarized from Paul Graham's essay which describes some of the feelings and reasons that often become a mental block in setting up a startup

It's no secret that startup businesses are on the rise lately. Many people start competing to execute their ideas into a product or service. However, not a few of them had to back down in the middle of the road for several reasons.

There is always a feeling or reason to be mental blocks in executing an idea and leading to the failure of a startup. Here's a summary of some of the feelings and reasons taken from Paul Graham essay which is often an obstacle in setting up a startup.

  1. Too young"

Maturity is one of the important factors in managing a startup. If someone criticizes your idea by saying “your idea is too bad” and then makes your beliefs waver then you are too “young” to start a business.

  1. Inexperienced

Everyone in this world is not directly equipped with experience at birth. Experience is gained from doing something. If you think you don't have the experience to start a startup, one of the right ways to get it is to start a startup.

  1. Not having enough determination

Prediction of success can not be seen from the level of intelligence. Prediction of a success can be seen from the determination. The more determined they are to do what they envision the closer they are to success.

  1. Not smart enough

You may need to be smart to succeed as a startup founder. But if you are worried about this, you may be wrong. If you're smart enough to worry that you might not be smart enough to start a startup, you probably aren't smart enough.

  1. Newbie in business

You don't need to know anything about business. Just focus on your product and then get people to need your product. If all that works you will think to get income from it.

  1. Does not have a co-founder

Not having a co-founder is a problem. A startup is too big for just one person. But what matters is not how you find a co-founder. You just need to run your startup and they will definitely be around you.

  1. Have no idea

It's okay if you don't have a good idea. Because many startups change their ideas in the middle of the road.

  1. No room for startup

There are already too many well-known companies and startups that you think there is no longer a chance to compete. Even though there is no limiting the number of companies and startups to compete, you only need to focus on producing new or new products.

  1. Family support

There is nothing wrong with using your family as a reference to start your intention to develop a startup. But if they don't take sides, don't be discouraged. The point is like being in the section on finding a co-founder. Start a startup while young, and let the support flow by itself.

  1. Riches

If you were born rich, maybe the main reason for starting a startup isn't about profit. The reason lies in some people needing to work with you to pay their bills.

  1. Not ready to commit

If the value of freedom is most important to you, don't start a startup. Don't look for work either. Because all of that requires a commitment that sacrifices your freedom.

  1. Need structure

Some people need structure in their lives. If you are one of them, then don't start a startup. Startups need flexibility in every position. Everyone in a startup does what they need without anyone telling them like in structural life.

  1. Fear of uncertainty

For some people, uncertainty is one of the main reasons they are reluctant to start a startup. But in this world there is a lot of uncertainty around us. At least if your startup ends in failure, you have learned and gained a lot.

  1. Not realizing what you're avoiding

If you fall asleep during the day in the office of a large company you will look unprofessional. Because for them the working hours have been determined, beyond that you are considered not working for the company. But if you set up a startup and you fall asleep during the day, your co-founders will just assume you're too tired. Because at startup and you as the founder, working hours are any time.

  1. Your parents want you to be a doctor

If this is the case, your parents are not at fault. They protect you from risk. It also protects you from being rewarded.

  1. Getting a job is standard

It has been more than a hundred years that getting a job was the standard. Long before that the standard was farming. So are you still following the standard?
