But over time, this application began to develop and become a dating platform that is used by many people around the world. Draft "swipe right" or "swipe left” implemented by this application is very easy to use and makes users feel comfortable and relaxed while browsing other people's profiles.

Apart from that, the location feature which allows users to find people around them is also very useful and makes this application even more popular. In no time, it has become one of the most popular and most used dating apps. Until now, this application continues to update and add new features to maintain its position as the leading dating application.

Based on the data above, the number of downloaders for the dating application Tinder reached 27 million as of August 2022. Then between December 2022 and January 2022, the number increased by 1,19% to 24,9 million. Although the number of Tinder app downloaders has increased, there has also been fluctuation in the number of users.

Several factors contributed to the reduction in the number of users of this application, including competition from other dating applications, changing trends in application usage, privacy and data security issues, as well as relatively high subscription fees to be able to access some premium features. Competitors such as Bumble and Hinge offer more unique and innovative features than Tinder, thereby influencing the interest of app users.

According to one respondent, Tinder is an application that is less attractive when viewed in terms of interface or other features. Not only that, Tinder is also an application that is quite expensive compared to applications dating others, and usually leads to looking for friends only.

The number of downloaders of this application in Indonesia has also fluctuated. In November 2022 the number was 684,7 thousand, then rose 5,64% in December to 723,2 thousand. And finally in January 2023 it decreased by 13,58% to 625 thousand. Meanwhile, daily active users tend to decline. As of December 2022, there were 263,39 thousand, then in January 2023 it decreased to 256,86 thousand.

Tinder is still firmly at the peak of popularity

Based on data from Similarweb for segment Top Dating Apps Ranking - Most Popular Apps in Indonesia (Google Play Store version), the Tinder application remains firmly in first place despite fluctuations, followed by Bumble in second place, third Badoo, and fourth SweetMeet. Based on this data, Tinder has a reputation as one of the most popular and widely used applications for online dating.

As an application that focuses on connection and interaction between individuals, Tinder allows its users to determine their preferences regarding the gender and age of their potential partner. This means that users can limit the age and gender they want to connect with, thereby affecting the app's overall demographic profile.

Most Tinder users are dominated by men with a percentage of 65,21% and the rest are women. Then in terms of age distribution, Tinder is widely used by users aged 25-34 years. This shows that this app appeals to millennials who are looking for acquaintances and potential partners.

"Because at that time I didn't feel confident in myself to get a boyfriend or close friend who could really accept the situation and didn't want to have a girlfriend who was in any circle. The reason for choosing Tinder is because the app's rating is more dominating than its competitors and the appearance of the app is attractive and mysterious to use. But now I don't use the application, because I already have a partner," said Dennis Ariza, a Tinder user since 2018.

Tinder fluttered with rating 4-5 stars

In analysis rating the Tinder app, the results show a predominance of 4 to 5 stars. This shows that users are generally giving rating better for the application. A large number of users appreciate the features available and the ease of use. Although there are still a small number of users who give rating low stars, in general this application has a positive reputation in the eyes of its users.

Even though dating apps are very popular and provide convenience for users, it is wise to be careful about interacting with other people through these apps. Many dating app users are dishonest and have specific motives, such as taking advantage of other people or seeking entertainment.
