Telkomsel and BCA Digital Prepares Collaboration for the Financial Platform "REDI" and blu

The cooperation model is not yet known, it will be announced at the end of October 2021

Telkomsel resumed a new chapter of its digital transformation. After platform lock (EdTech) and Fita (healthtech), this SOE-owned cellular operator adds to its digital portfolio again by launching a financial application Telkomsel REDI. Currently, the REDI app is available for devices Android.

Telkomsel REDI opens a collaboration signal with BCA's digital bank, namely BCA Digital (blu). The collaboration hasn't officially launched yet, but it has been announced via the page LinkedIn BCA Digital. In the information, the two will announce a collaboration Telkomsel REDI and blu at the end of this October.

DailySocial have tried to contact BCA Digital and Telkomsel. However, there has been no confirmation and further information from the two.

"[Collaboration] Telkomsel Redi and blu can be expected next week. Just wait," said a spokesperson for BCA Digital in a short message to DailySocial.

Application Telkomsel REDI allows users to transact and access more than one bank account with a mobile number only. Users can also transfer money with a QR code without the need to enter an account number. Telkomsel REDI also offers a number of other features, such as split bill, bill reminders (electricity, water, telephone, etc.), to monthly expense reports.

In a press release some time ago, SVP Digital Advertising and Banking Telkomsel Ronny W Sugiadha says, Telkomsel REDI is a continuation of the development of m-Banking service innovations Telkomsel which was originally released in 2002.

"Through Telkomsel REDI, we are trying to integrate a number of digital financial services from well-known banking partners, which is expected to make it easier for the public to manage various accounts they have in one health insurance application," he said.

Now, Telkomsel REDI has collaborated with more than 20 banking institutions. His party will continue to increase the number of banking partners in order to reach the target users in the ecosystem Telkomsel wider.

Cross-sector digital collaboration

The model of cooperation between blu and is not yet known Telkomsel REDI. However, several cross-vertical digital platforms have begun to collaborate with banks to deliver services Bank-as-a-Service (BaaS).

For example, Bukalapak and Sociolla's collaboration with Standard Chartered's nexus platform. Then, partnerships Grab and BRI to provide access to online account opening. Meanwhile, BCA Digital is strengthening its service ecosystem by cooperating with e-commerce platforms Blibli as the exclusive partner of the blu platform.

The various collaboration models that have been carried out are actually aiming at a similar target, namely encouraging the expansion of financial inclusion in Indonesia. With their respective user bases, this collaboration enables faster acceleration of service adoption.

Based on the e-Conomy SEA 2019 report by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company, there are still many Indonesians who have not been touched by financial services. This report mentions population unbanked in Indonesia reached 92 million people, while underbanked reached 47 million people.
