Edtech Startup Rolmo Launches, Offers Learning Concepts from "Role Models" in Various Fields

Also apply learning with 360° VR/AR technology

The pandemic has accelerated platform edutech in the homeland. Not only targeting formal education, but also informal education broadly. Starting from education about finance and investment, programming languages, to parenting. One local platform that was later interested in contributing to the informal education sector was Rolmo.

To DailySocial, Rolmo founder Jonathan Aditya revealed, although it has a similar way of working with most platforms EdTech, but their content approach is different, namely by focusing on the figure role model. For example, on the platform there is a class from Andra Matin which contains experiences, knowledge, and life lessons in a career as an architect.

"In Indonesia, until now there are still very few choices to learn to achieve success and life goals from the experiences, mistakes, and suggestions of the people role model. For the most part, current solutions offer engineering learning, which can be found on both paid and free platforms. We believe that this solution [Rolmo] is well received, especially by people in the productive age range," Jonathan said.

Apart from Indonesia, Rolmo hopes that their platform can be used in other countries. This then makes the platform not only a site, but also an application. Rolmo has also been equipped with translations in 12 languages in every course launched.

Together with other founders, namely Johanes Adika, Rolmo is expected to be the platform of choice for the wider community who want to increase knowledge, learn directly from their idol figures.

"Through Rolmo, we want to open opportunities for as many individuals as possible to have access to good education. Another main thing that Rolmo also wants to achieve is to create equal opportunities for anyone to be able to learn from these role models. We believe that by being able to learn from the role model, everyone can achieve their goals,” said Johanes.

Utilization of VR/AR technology

For now, users can make purchases for each course option. After making a purchase, users can access it for one year. Using method base learning videos, every user can access it via smartphone and desktop with. Not only in the form of videos, Rolmo also provides a more intimate experience using 360° Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technology.

By implementing 360° VR, users can get closer to role model. Previously, Rolmo had also applied it in various cases, one example being the course by Andra Matin. Users are invited to tour one of the buildings designed by Andra Matin. Users can look around, as if they were there.

In the next five years, Rolmo sees the use of AR can be enjoyed not only through smartphone, but also with new trapping tools such as glasses.

"We realize that not everyone has the funds, access and time to be able to see and meet Andra Matin directly. The application of AR will help visualize learning materials in three dimensions. One example is that users can see mockups of Andra Matin's project," Jonathan said.

In the future, Rolmo will also add learning materials from role model others from other fields such as interior design, graphic design, product design, business, fashion, photography, film, music, and others.

"This year we are targeting to be able to present more than 20 role model in various fields. We are also planning to do a fundraising stage pre seed," said Jonathan.
