Supporting Indonesian Digital Talents, Tokopedia's START Summit 2022 Brings the Theme of Driving Innovation At Scale

Tokopedia through Tokopedia Academy again held a START Summit 2022 – Tokopedia's annual technology conference – on (16/07). START Summit 2022 is presented as a form of Tokopedia's commitment to developing the potential of Indonesia's digital talent. The technology conference created by Tokopedia was held to build the country's technology industry and support the government's efforts to meet the prediction of a lack of 9 million digital talents by 2030.

Leontinus A. Edison, Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of Tokopedia, reported by Virtual Media Briefings for START Summit 2022 (15/07) stated that, “Tokopedia focuses on developing digital talent through various efforts under the big umbrella, namely Tokopedia Academy. One of these efforts is to hold a START Summit.”

Welcoming the Theme Driving Innovation At Scale

START Summit is an annual technology conference organized by Tokopedia which this year carries the theme Driving Innovation At Scale. The START Summit in 2022 is expected to be a forum for sharing experiences, solutions, innovations, and fields networking for Indonesian digital talents. Through the 2022 START Summit, Nakama – as Tokopedia employees are called – will discuss how Tokopedia uses technology to solve problems on a large scale (at scale).

"Hopefully, what we share here can trigger the creation of various new, solutive innovations for as many Indonesian people as possible," said Leontinus.

START Summit 2022 invites dozens of expert speakers with discussions centered on Core Engineering, Data, Infrastructure and Productivity, Front-End, and Security/Data Protection and Privacy Office/Risk. The expert speakers included Leontinus, Tokopedia CTO Herman Widjaja, Tokopedia COO Melissa Siska Juminto, and Tokopedia SVP of Data Protection and Privacy Office Leny Suwardi.

Tokopedia's Engineering Manager, M. Ilham Jamaludin, one of the speakers for the 2022 START Summit discussing Application Stability, explained, "Participants of the 2022 START Summit can gain knowledge based on Nakama's real practice, share solution-based innovation ideas, and networking with fellow technologists to experts.”

Developing Digital Talents through Tokopedia Academy

Tokopedia is an inclusive technology company where anyone can work through technology. To support this, one of the efforts made by Tokopedia is to develop the Tokopedia Academy.

Tika Widiati, Tokopedia's Lead Software Engineer and one of the speakers on API Monitoring at the 2022 START Summit, explained, "Through the Tokopedia Academy, in this case the START Summit, all technology activists in Indonesia have the same opportunity to learn, collaborate and obtain relevant curriculum. related to technology, directly from the experts in the field.”

START Summit is one of the initiatives under the auspices of the Tokopedia Academy and is Tokopedia's effort to create an even distribution of knowledge through technology. Tokopedia Academy's Series of Interesting Programs

In addition to the START Summit, Tokopedia Academy has a number of other programs, namely: START Women in Tech (technology conference for female digital talent), START CX First Summit (conference on customer experience), cooperation with the university with the manufacture of AI center, as well Tokopedia Goes to Campus. 

Not only that, Tokopedia Academy is collaborating with the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia through SIBERKREASI Tokopedia NextGen. Tokopedia Academy also held a Certified Apprenticeship program and a DevCamp Hackathon as a collaboration with the Independent Campus program of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology RI.
