Smarten's Plans for the M2M Sector Next Year

Have a mission to be a provider of M2M solutions for all companies within the Sinarmas Group

Telecommunication operators are starting to penetrate the M2M (machine to machine) and Internet of Things (IoT) sectors. Names like Indosat, Telkomsel and XL are some that are already known to have M2M solutions. Not wanting to be left behind with other operators, Smartfren, which has officially turned off CDMA services for switch to LTE will carry several strategies for the M2M business next year. One of them is to be the main partner of companies within the Sinarmas Group in providing solutions to increase company productivity.

SVP Digital Services Smartfren Revie Sylviana and GM M2M and IoT Smartfren Supriyadi to DailySocial stated that currently his party has prepared a strategy to realize the mission. One of the things being prepared is the implementation of a platform to improve internal capabilities, building partnerships with global M2M applications. All of this is done to consistently build an M2M ecosystem with the concept of economic sharing and ensure that all parties get the best benefit.

Smartfren is also preparing internal resource technology, both systems and personnel, in order to realize a quality and useful service.

“To welcome the business competition ahead, Smartfren is currently focusing on increasing internal resources, both personnel and support systems. Build partnerships with the best technology and business partners in the M2M industry, and start the development of several M2M solutions, so that they can be ready for launch early in the year. And what is no less important is conducting several service trials within the Sinarmas group, to ensure that the solutions to be launched are in accordance with market needs," explained Revie.

Opportunity to take

M2M technology can basically be useful for many sectors. For next year's solutions, Smartfren will focus on telemetry and Insurance (Tracking & UBI) solutions, Home Automation, Building Management, payment and Asset Management solutions, as well as solutions for health.

"The M2M services that we launch will continue to be different in terms of functionality and business model, for example Smartrek products, namely car tracking services, are packaged in the form of UBI [usage based insurance, namely the customer's usage/driving behavior based insurance solution]. This solution is an automotive solution, but is used as a new product for insurance. In terms of the business model, customers who buy insurance will get tracking devices at very low prices, so that the benefits obtained by customers are divided into two, namely insurance benefits and services. trading, "explained Supriadi.

Smartfren doesn't seem to want to miss out on the potential in this M2M business. Citing data from Machina Research, the growth of the IoT and M2M industry is in the range of 21% CAGR with the portion of revenue that can be achieved by IoT players of IDR 1,8 trillion next year. With the strategy that will be implemented next year, Smartfren hopes to take part in the M2M and IoT markets in Indonesia.
