Next Year Blanja Focuses on Purchasing Digital Products

Bill payments, insurance purchases, and investment product purchases to drive acceptance

Welcoming 2020, Blanja will shift focus. No longer heavy on the e-commerce side, the company will focus on serving digital product payments and offering educational products in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Blanja CEO Jemy Confido claims, throughout 2019 Blanja has experienced an increase revenue which is quite significant. Compared to 2018, the number increased to 84%. There was an increase in EBITDA of 11% and Net Income of around 4%. For companies the main metric today is no longer GMV, but revenue.

Apart from Jabodetabek, Blanja claims to have increased traffic and the number of users in Surabaya, Medan, Bandung, and Makassar.

"For GMV itself, we noted that a lot of it came from organic, around 85%. Of that number we saw positioning Shopping and brand awareness already quite effective, although still in certain circles."

For next year, Blanja will increase the number of digital products it accommodates, ranging from communication facilities, game products, entertainment, to BPJS Health payments. Blanja is also more aggressive in presenting educational products in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture in the form of the Educational Sectoral Catalog and School Procurement Information System (SIPLah).

"Product consumer goods to gadgets we also still present, but now we choose to be more selective. We also continue to carry out partnerships with SMEs and SOEs. Digital products to investment will be our main focus going forward," said Jemy.

In addition to payment default through LinkAja, Blanja also plans to introduce the PayLater payment feature. This feature will collaborate with LinkAja, banks, and other financial institutions.

"We also continue to encourage payment options that are still within the Telkom Group. One of them is Finpay from Indonesia PT Finnet Indonesia (Finnet). With the aggregation scheme, digital wallet payment options will be added outside the Telkom ecosystem," said Jemy.

One of Blanja's new collaborations is with Invisee. Users can choose mutual fund investment products managed by Invisee through its platform.

"We see that there are now many millennials accessing our platform. With affordable investment options and an easy process, it is hoped that more millennials will be interested in buying mutual fund products at Blanja," said Jemy.
