LinkAja Officially Launches Sharia Features

LinkAja also launched a discourse for the expansion of sharia services abroad.

After several months of testing, LinkAja finally launched their sharia feature to the wider public. LinkAja immediately targets this sharia service to reach one million users.

LinkAja first time introduce sharia features in November last year. One of the most distinguishing features of this sharia with their conventional services is the institution for depositing funds (floating funds) to do top up balance using Islamic bank services.

"The target of LinkAja Syariah users in the first year is one million users," said Acting President Director of LinkAja Haryati Lawidjaja, Tuesday (14/4).

To achieve this target, LinkAja has collaborated with partners such as 1000 mosques, 11 waqf institutions, 23 zakat institutions, and 67 donation institutions. The ecosystem that LinkAja has established is quite complete, especially the Islamic economy in Indonesia and globally squirming recent years.

Head of Group Syariah Channel LinkAja Widjayanto Djaenudin said, currently there are several service features that can be widely used, namely qurbani payments, infaq, balance refills, and zakat. He promised that soon their services could also be used to pay bills for boarding schools.

"We want users not to be able to use LinkAja Syariah on Facebook merchant non-halal. When choosing to become users of the LinkAja sharia service, we hope that they already have that awareness," added Widjayanto.

LinkAja itself currently has more than 40 million users with 500 thousand merchant. Their current status makes LinkAja the first Islamic electronic money platform in Indonesia. This makes them optimistic to dominate the Islamic electronic money market in Indonesia.

One of LinkAja's quick methods to become number one is collaborating with the Ministry of Religion's Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah. "This we have discussed. I think all shareholders very supportive to go there," said LinkAja President Commissioner Heri Supriadi.

Even on this occasion, Heri said that it is not impossible for his party to compete in other Muslim-majority countries such as Pakistan or Bangladesh. However, Heri underlined that LinkAja wants to be number one in Indonesia as the largest Muslim country before expanding to other countries.

Now all LinkAja users can access sharia features by updating the application version on the Google PlayStore.

DSResearch report on the most used digital wallet by respondents

In Indonesia, LinkAja competes directly with several other digital wallet providers. Based on survey results DSResearch published in Fintech Report 2019, LinkAja is ranked fourth in terms of usage, after Gopay, Ovo, and Dana. Features and service integration are indeed important points to win the hearts of consumers, and now each player continues to compete in that direction -- to become the most complete digital wallet.
