Setipe Acquired Lunch Actually Group

Setipe will become the Lunch Actually Group business unit, Razi Thalib will lead the operations of Lunch Actually Group in Indonesia

Online matchmaking service Setipe has announced that it has joined Singapore's Lunch Actually Group for an unannounced amount. Setipe will become a business unit under the management of Lunch Actually Group and CEO of Setipe Razi Thalib will lead the operations of Lunch Actually Group in Indonesia. The joining of Setipe to Lunch Actually Group is expected to support the move to dominate the matchmaking industry (online and offline) in Indonesia.

The synergy between the two entities has not only occurred recently. In 2016, Setipe and Lunch Actually collaborated to launch matchmaking education site, although it seems the site is no longer accessible.

To DailySocial, Razi about this business merger decision said:

"We realized the monetization of matchmaking services required a strong offline [business] presence. We had a partnership with Lunch Actually and this relationship has continued from there. Lunch Actually has been doing this for 13 years. Their experience with offline [presence]/hybrid models, experience sales, regional ambitions and above all a shared focus on serious [matchmaking] relationships [driven us to make this happen]."

Statistically, Razi said that Setipe's achievement is having more than 800 thousand users and more than 200 wedding invitations (which are connected through Setipe). With the joining of Setipe, Lunch Actually Group has 110 employees in total.

In Indonesia, you could say that Lunch Actually Group's competitors are Tinder and Paktor. The latter, also from Singapore, has a serious presence in Indonesia.

The merging of these two services is expected to be a milestone for the group's growth. The type will become part of the Lunch Actually Group product. Other products include esync, LunchClick, Lunch Actually Academy, and Peerage. It is stated that Lunch Actually has 2 million users in Indonesia.

Co-Founder and CEO of Lunch Actually Group Violet Lim said in a statement, "We are impressed with what Razi and his team have done in expanding Setipe, and we are excited to have them in this expansion in Indonesia."

"With Setipe's strong knowledge of local dating culture and having become a well-known brand that first comes to the minds of singles in Indonesia, coupled with the proven 13 years of Lunch Actually Group experience, we believe that by joining together, we will develop business to a higher level in Indonesia," he said.

After the business merger, Razi stated:

"Several changes have been planned to integrate Setipe's services into the Lunch Actually ecosystem. We will also introduce a number of new products in the next few weeks or months. We will focus on revenue and profit."
