HijUp Gets Seed Funding Again, This Time Worth Millions Of Dollars

Muslim fashion e-commerce service HijUp announced the acquisition of a second round of seed funding, this time worth seven-figure US dollars ($1-9 million or more than Rp 13 billion) from a consortium of investors, namely Fenox Capital, 500 Startups, and local media conglomerate EMTEK. This is the second funding acquisition HijUp has obtained in the last six months.

According to information received by DailySocial, the funding this time will be used to build a better infrastructure (system) and increase human resources to support more consumers. Fenox Capital and 500 Startups were also involved in previous funding rounds.

HijUp Founder and CEO Diajeng Lestari said, "This time (the funding) is an Eid gift for HijUp. We have been managing consumer growth well, but with this latest investment we will be more aggressive in terms of marketing strategy. We are on track to make Indonesia is the center of the world's Muslim fashion."

HijUp currently has more than 200 Muslim fashion brands and this funding will also support HijUp's desire to expand globally. Outside Indonesia, HijUp said the high traffic came from Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Australia, the United States, Britain, and a number of European countries.

In EMTEK's involvement as HijUp's new investor, Creative Media Karya (KMK) CEO, EMTEK's digital business unit, Adi Sariaatmadja said, "We believe that there is an increasing demand for the Muslim fashion market, including the increasing number of suppliers from Indonesia. We also strongly believe that we have the right partner, HijUp, to bring this to everyone."

While Managing Partner of 500 Startups Khailee Ng added, "When we first invested (in HijUp), we knew they were going to be a big company. We just didn't know it could happen so fast! That's why we are providing more funding (for them). ), to maintain this good performance!"
