Saturdays Offers Lifestyle Products with O2O Sales Concept

Offers glasses sold through the integration of online and offline stores

Saturdays may not be the only startup offering products lifestyle in Indonesia. Nonetheless, they came up with the concept direct-to-consumer by eliminating intermediaries in selling their products.

With eyewear as its main business today, Saturdays.id offers quality eyewear at affordable prices. The production of lenses and frames is carried out in-house from design, manufacturing, to direct delivery to consumers.

From the sales side, Saturdays utilizes the concept of online-to-offline (O2O) through online sales and retail stores. Shop flagship the first one just opened in February 2019 at Lotte Shopping Avenue. The shop is integrated with a coffee shop for a touch lifestyles.

To DailySocial, Saturdays CEO Rama Suparti said, now the difference online retail and offline retail increasingly unreal because the retail industry began to focus on providing convenience shopping to consumers.

According to him, a number of traditional retail companies have penetrated online sales through e-commerce websites, marketplaces, and social media. "So does [company] online retail now have offline channels so that consumers can try the product and interact directly," said Rama.

Rama hopes that this year there will be more Saturdays physical outlets in Indonesia that remain consistent with the concept lifestyle.

Apart from the shop flagship, Saturdays is now present in a number of malls in Jakarta. It also partners with 13 lifestyle store in Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, Bandung and Yogyakarta.

Fintech collaboration and app development

This year Saturdays has planned a number of plans to encourage business growth and improve the shopping experience, both in online and offline stores.

In terms of technology, Rama revealed that his party is developing a mobile application for selling Saturdays eyewear products. He also did not rule out the possibility of diversifying other products related to lifestyle and future technology.

Equally important, his party is currently exploring cooperation with several fintech service providers and technology companies to provide a better O2O shopping experience in the future.

"Technology is an important part of our business. Since our inception, our vision has been to combine design, technology and giving back," he said.

Observing the development of the concept new retail

As an O2O service provider, Saturdays does not ignore the concept of new retail which is predicted to be a development trade in the future. New retail Alibaba itself was initiated by combining technology to provide a better shopping experience.

Rama said that this concept could actually be useful to better understand consumer shopping behavior, not just a more personal and efficient shopping convenience. According to him, the concept new retail has been adopted by a number of major brands, such as Amazon and Nike.

For now, he admits that he is still observing technological developments, such as: augmented reality, online eye testing, and chatbots. Later this technology can be implemented to provide an integrated shopping experience and seamless pattern to Saturdays consumers.
