Karir.com Launches Salary Benchmark 1.2 and Analysis Results from 9000 Users

Generation Y begins to dominate various sectors of the workforce in the company, the competition between generations begins

Karir.com in collaboration with Kelly Services and Financial Focus launched the Salary Benchmark 1.2 update, a standard remuneration measurement instrument for professional workers. One of the focuses of development is the presentation of Financial Tips and Salary Guidelines to assist professional workforce financial planning that is adjusted to the amount of salary. This feature first appeared on the Karir.com page last October, so far, 9.000 Karir.com users have used the Salary Benchmark.

From 9.000 Salary Benchmark users, Karir.com's analytical system has managed to compile empirical data that reflects the profile, distribution, and slice of professional positions grouped into Generation X (age 34 years and over) and Generation Y (age 34 years and below). The results of the data analysis show that there is competition between the two generations with the potential and advantages of each. This is important to be addressed properly because it has an impact on the increasingly tight opportunities in the world of work.

Karir.com CEO Dino Martin in his presentation said:

“Generation Y has unique characteristics. Growing up in the frenzy of wireless technology development. This generation that is very familiar with the internet and social media tends not to be afraid of change, but is often impatient in going through the process towards change itself. They are a productive workforce, a reliable generation, full of surprises and brilliant ideas.”

Generation Y is different from Generation X. Generation X is known to have the characteristics of being able to adapt, being able to accept changes well, and being tough as well as having independent, loyal and hardworking characters. Currently in the world of work Generation Y is starting to dominate. Commenting on the dominance, Dino said:

“Like it or not, like it or not, Generation Y is now increasingly dominating the world of work. This generation becomes the human resources needed by the company, and often becomes the mainstay and backbone. In the scope of work, they clearly have a different character from the previous generation. For that, like it or not, companies need to make adjustments to their roots so that they can optimize their human resources, which are increasingly dominated by Generation Y.”

Demographics of Generation X and Generation Y workers in Indonesia

Based on the results of the same data analysis, it is stated that Generation X (in the system there are 1.448 people) who hold a bachelor's degree are 1% and spread in position propositions as Department Managers (64%), Senior Staff (23%) and Supervisors (18% ). While Generation Y (in the system there are 17 people) there are 5.273% with an undergraduate degree. Although 62% of them are still at the new employee level, the percentage of Senior Staff in this group has reached 1%, while the percentage of Supervisors is 51%.

The data above brings a conclusion to Karir.com that the career growth period of Generation Y is more progressive than Generation X. This is evidenced by the existence of wedges in several high-level positions in the company. According to Dino, it is recommended that Generation X workers have a good career development planning strategy and must be keen to see opportunities to be able to compete not only with their peers.

Meanwhile, in terms of industrial distribution, technology, education, retail and communications have proven to be sectors that are in great demand and in accordance with the characteristics of Generation Y. Generation Y seems to excel in technology-related jobs. Generation Y was born as a person who is more critical and skilled in adopting technological updates, so that it becomes an added value for the sector.
