Invite Regional Banks, Blockchain Zoo Prepares Blockchain Implementation in Indonesia

Also holding training programs to improve local developers' skills on blockchain technology

Blockchain Zoo, a blockchain-based IT consulting company, invited a number of Regional Development Banks (BPD) to implement blockchain technology within the company. It is hoped that this year blockchain implementation will begin in Indonesia.

Chairwoman Blockchain Zoo Pandu Sastrowardoyo said the company had implemented training programs for regional banking internals in two cities, Jakarta and Makassar. A total of 26 BPDs joined this training program, thanks to the collaboration between Blockchain Zoo assisted by the Indonesia Blockchain Network (IBN) and the Association of Regional Development Banks (Asbanda).

"There are 13 BPDs from the east and 13 BPDs from the west, we have held a training event for blockchain," explained Pandu, Thursday (2/2).

In utilizing this technology, banks no longer need to use server services from third parties because blockchain is decentralized. Data will be stored safely because it is encrypted in layers.

Unlike the case when using a traditional IT system, a central server is always needed that is placed in one bank. These conditions make inter-banks compete with each other for the top position as the holder of the central server. Not to mention, within the internal bank there are always rules that prohibit banks from sharing important data with other banks.

"If you use blockchain, you can still see your own data, but other people can't see it even if you don't use a central server."

Pandu gave an example, if the BPD is already connected to the blockchain they will be connected to each other, without being able to access data from other companies, let alone change it.

Suppose there is customer data fraud which has been detected by bank A. When the customer applies to bank B, the track record will be seen which was previously detected by bank A. The customer data also cannot be edited by the bank. For example, if it can be changed, you will see a record of the changes, not completely missing from the old data.

"So with blockchain there is data pooling, without one being higher than the other and without peering at each other's data."

Blockchain can help transparency and efficiency, data verification will be much faster. Not only financial services can take advantage of blockchain, other industries such as education, hospitals, logistics, supply , and much more.

Lack of talent

In addition to encouraging the implementation of blockchain technology in Indonesia, Blockchain Zoo and the IBN community have begun to actively hold training programs for students developer local people who want to enter the blockchain world. It is estimated that the time needed to master this knowledge is around three to six months until it is truly believed to be able to be implemented in real projects.

According to Pandu, the training held by the company usually takes about three to six months to really master the knowledge. This training is Blockchain Zoo's main concern in developing local talent so that they can take advantage of the momentum, considering that blockchain is still something new in Indonesia so not many companies are using it.

"Developer Local has potential, but doesn't have it yet skill-his. This is a momentum that must be used immediately because now large companies are starting to look at blockchain. If we don't learn immediately, our market might be controlled by foreigners," Pandu concluded.
