Recruit: Android Developers Are More Wanted Than iOS on the Job Market

Recruit which claims to be the largest job search engine service in Asia Pacific released a simple statistic on the comparison of the needs of Android developers versus iOS developers. Recruit, which serves more than 1 million job information searches per day, stated that currently employers are looking for Android developers more than iOS.

Based on data obtained by Recruit, there are 14.733 jobs using the words Android, while those using the words iOS and iPhone are 11.264 and 8.847 jobs, respectively. Based on a graphic created since 2007, in 2010 the search with the word Android in Recruit was bigger than iOS and continued to show a further disparity in 2012.

This global trend for developer work may not be much different from the smartphone market share that puts Android in the top spot. Based on calculations performed by IDC, in the third quarter of 2012 Android controlled 75% of the total smartphones in the world. This figure is far above iOS (iPhone) which is in second place with 15% market share.

These graphic trends do not vary much across countries where Recruit aggregates data. Unfortunately Recruit does not have data on Indonesia specifically. Recruit has data for various countries in Asia Pacific, USA, Canada and UK.
