"Rata" Startup Enters Healthtech Market, Provides Dental Aesthetic Solutions

Serving the Greater Jakarta area, embedding "artificial intelligence" technology

Solution technology-based health began to penetrate the oral segment and dental aesthetics. Startup Rata was founded by Co-Founder and CEO drg. Edward Makmur, Co-Founder and CSO Danny Limanto, Co-Founder and CFO Jason Wahono, and Co-Founder and CMO Drg. Deviana Maria A to overcome the problems of dental aesthetics assisted by technology artificial intelligence.

To DailySocial, Deviana revealed, the dental aesthetic technology created by her team uses a solution clear aligners assisted by artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

"We want to create clear aligners that can be reached by everyone, and of course much better than using braces. Problems such as piercing braces, having to come to the dental clinic regularly and disturbing appearance which ultimately makes people make dental aesthetic problems their umpteenth need."

Flat, a startup fostered by Alpha JWC Ventures, claims to be a technology clear aligners the first to be present in Indonesia using the latest technology at an affordable price. Rata also provides free online consultation opportunities and the opportunity to perform engagement directly use social media. Since its presence in May 2019, the company said it has served hundreds of customers, especially in the Jabodetabek area.

"On the medical side, we are grateful to have support mentorship from various figures in the field of dentistry and technology, both from within the country and abroad," said Deviana.

Through the site, customers simply fill out an online questionnaire regarding the condition of their teeth and their dental health history. Each case that has been evaluated and accepted by the team of doctors will proceed to the dental impression stage. The dentist team, assisted by AI, then simulates the movement of the customer's teeth along with the number of teeth aligner set and duration of treatment.

The education process, ordering to payment is done directly on the site. Rata uses social media to carry out marketing activities and does not yet have an application.

"Rata provides an online platform, mainly through features chatting for customers who want to consult a dentist. In addition, Rata has partnered with several clinics spread across the Greater Jakarta area for customers who want to do offline consultations or need other clinical actions," Deviana said.

The biggest challenge the team encountered was gaining market trust, especially for dental clinical care. According to Deviana, currently the entire process is supervised by a dentist to ensure suitability and safety.

"Until the end of 2019, Rata will focus on continuing to deepen product education clear aligners in the Jabodetabek market and started introducing Rata and developing clinical operations and services in other cities in Indonesia. Rata has secured early-stage funding with an undisclosed amount from angel investors at the beginning of this year," concluded Deviana.
