Quipper Campus Wants To Be A Platform That Help Students Decide Their Favorite Major

Already has data on 500 universities, plans to launch a paid platform for universities

Aims to increase the number of school students who continue their education to university, platform edutechQuipper officially launched Quipper Campus. This platform contains information about campuses based on location categories and targeted majors. The new service available in the form of this website tries to cover thousands of public and private universities in the country.

To the media today, (24/01), Quipper Indonesia Country Manager Takuya Homma revealed, in accordance with Quipper's vision and mission so far, namely supporting the growth of edutek in Indonesia, Quipper Campus is expected to help guide students in choosing the right university.

"Because it's still just launched, the focus of Quipper Campus at this time is collecting information directly from universities as well as conducting promotional activities to schools that have collaborated with Quipper before."

Currently there are approximately 4500 universities in Indonesia, however, because not many of these universities are accredited, Quipper conducts a screening of the most suitable universities for users.

"I see that currently maybe only around 1000 universities have been accredited. Through Quipper [Campus], we are trying to summarize universities that meet our criteria directly from the university," said Quipper Campus Project Leader Patricia Sanjoto.

Not only public universities, Quipper Campus is also full of universities to private educational institutions that are increasingly mushrooming in number.

"Currently, because we are still new, we are still focusing on local universities. But in the future we will also bring universities to foreign educational institutions into the Quipper Campus platform," said Takuya.

Haven't started monetization yet

When asked about the monetization strategy for Quipper Campus, Takuya said that he did not currently plan to carry out such activities. However, in the future, if there is greater demand from universities to promote their campuses, it is possible that a paid scheme for universities will be launched.

"We have done this in Japan, but for Indonesia it seems that we have not presented it because it is still focused on collecting complete data and information for users," said Takuya.

Currently Quipper Campus has collected information about 500 universities in Indonesia and the number is claimed to be increased based on recommendations and the screening process.

Using special algorithms for fast search

Regarding the technology used by Quipper Campus for the relevant university search feature, Takuya emphasized that Quipper Campus uses its own technology using existing algorithms. This, according to Takuya, is efficient enough to provide convenience to users.

"What's interesting about edutech is that AI and other related technologies don't really have much effect in terms of providing a user experience. Users tend to prefer a conventional way when looking for information to take advantage of the learning features on Quipper," said Takuya.

Takuya added, the Quipper Video and Quipper Campus features are mostly used by students who are still having difficulty determining further education according to their interests and abilities.

"As an edutech company that aims to support education in Indonesia, we will continue to innovate in order to support government programs to ensure Indonesian students can compete at the global level," concluded Takuya.
