Qlue Gets Investment from Japanese Telecommunication Company KDDI

Both plan synergies and product integration to drive digital transformation in Southeast Asia

Aiming to drive digital transformation in the Southeast Asian market, particularly Indonesia, KDDI, known as a Japanese telecommunications company, announced its investment in developers platform smart city Qlue. Both will integrate various platforms developed by Qlue with KDDI's business base in Southeast Asia, including its technology infrastructure services.

No mention of the investment amount given. This funding is provided through the KDDI Open Innovation Fund III, which is a corporate venture fund focused on supporting various startups in the fields of entertainment, IoT, big dataand fintech. The total managed fund reaches 20 billion yen or equivalent to 260 billion Rupiah; and has invested in 92 startups.

KDDI itself actually already has a unit in Jakarta, through PT KDDI Indonesia. Their business segments are B2B, B2B2X, and B2G in various fields.

One of Qlue's current focuses in Indonesia is still helping digitize government services in various cities. Most recently, in April 2021, the company announced that it had implemented a solution smart city owned in Karo Regency, North Sumatra. New solutions were also launched, including a suite of tools to help organizations discipline health protocols amid a pandemic.

Qlue's current solutions consist of QlueApp (citizen reporting application), QlueVision (artificial intelligence-based CCTV video analysis), QlueWork (mobile workforce management), QlueDashboard (data visualization platform), QlueSense (IoT-based product solution), and QlueThermal (scanner solution). body temperature and use of automatic masks).

On one occasion, Qlue's Founder & CEO RaMa Raditya said, in 2020 their business registered 70% growth compared to the previous year. This is driven by increasing enthusiasm for digitization and the use of solutions smart city in Indonesia.

So far, there have been around 120 cities/districts that have utilized the Qlue solution. Some of their solutions have also been implemented by clients from abroad, including in Singapore, the Philippines, China, Japan, India, Russia, Australia, two countries in Europe, and four countries in the Americas. Qlue's clients come from the government sector with a composition of 70% and the remaining 30% private.
