Ministry of Foreign Affairs Education and Training Center Holds Seminar to Discuss Fintech Opportunities and Challenges in Indonesia

Involving various elements, including the Governor of Bank Indonesia, OJK, banks and private companies

The Education and Training Center (Pusdiklat) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Jakarta and the Fintech Office of Bank Indonesia will hold a seminar entitled “Digital Diplomacy on Fintech: Opportunity in Disruptivity” on 29 and 30 March 2017 at the CSIS Auditorium, Pakarti Central Building, Central Jakarta. The event will be filled with several discussion sessions with academics, practitioners, and inspiring entrepreneurs who are engaged in the Ffinancial Technology (Fintech).

In this seminar, the Governor of Bank Indonesia Agus Martowardojo is scheduled to give keynote address on the first day as well as opening a series of seminars. The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority, Muliaman Hadad, is scheduled to deliver: keynote address on the second day.

Some of the topics that will be discussed on the first day include:

  • Why Financial Technology?
  • The Role of Start-ups in Fintech
  • The Role of Social Media Influencers
  • The Cross-Border Financial Transactions.

The invited speakers included Nabilah Alsagoff (COO of Doku), Niki Luhur (Chairman of the Indonesian Fintech Association), Junanto Herdiawan (Fintech Office BI), Rama Mamuaya (Founder and CEO of DailySocial), Ibnu Hajar Ulinnuha (CEO of Indiva Financial Technology), Hendrikus Passagi (Financial Services Authority Senior Researcher), and Dr. Grace Dewi (CSIS).

In addition to the interesting discussion above, the seminar agenda is also filled with Tweets from the Top which will be attended by the Dutch Ambassador to Indonesia, HE Mr. Rob Swartbol. In addition, Bantaeng Regent Nurdin Abdullah will fill the session Updates from the Region which will discuss developments in Bantaeng in relation to community financial inclusion.

Session "Conventional Banking vs Financial Technology" will present Eddy Danusaputro (Director of Mandiri Capital Indonesia) and Adrian Gunadi (Co-founder and CEO of Investree.com). For session "Idea Matters", Yasa Singgih (Founder of the Men's Republic), Ajisatria Suleiman (Director of Fintech ID), and Agus Lahinta (Bentor Online, Antar-Antar) will share experiences about the power of ideas and their impact on business development.

The series of events will close with Battle Ideas from the top three participants in the business idea submission competition will be given the opportunity to present in front of the jury and seminar participants. The winner will get a chance mentoring with experts in the field Fintech from Bank Indonesia and OJK.

This seminar will be the 4th edition after previously raising the topic smart city, creative economy, renewable energy, and eco-tourism. The seminar is intended as a forum for discussion, expanding networks, and enriching perspectives on issues that are rapidly developing and becoming the center of attention.
