Promote Blockchain, Six Countries Form Special Consortium

As a place for education, promotion, and collaboration related to blockchain between ASEAN countries and Australia

Six ASEAN countries and Australia announced the establishment of the ASEAN Blockchain Consortium (ABC) to foster and strengthen cross-border relations in promoting technology blockchain. The six countries are represented Indonesian Blockchain Association (ABI), Singapore Blockchain Association (BAS), Philippines Distributed Ledger Technology Association (DLTAP), Labuan International Business and Finance Center (Labuan IBFC), Thailand Digital Asset Operators Trade Association (TDO), and Blockchain Australia (BA).

In this digital signing event supported by Decodo, a -based digital signing platform blockchain. Attended by Edi Prio Pambudi Senior Advisor to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (Indonesia); Sopnendu Mohanty, Chief FinTech Officer, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Chia Hock Lai, Co-Chairman of BAS; Muhammad Deivito Dunggio, Chairman of ABI; Justo A Ortiz, Head of DLTAP; Farah Jaafar-Crossby, CEO of Labuan IBFC; Peeradej Tanruangporn, President of TDO, and Steve Vallas, CEO of BA.

After signing virtually, webinar entitled “ASEAN Blockchain: Opportunities and Challenges” was held to discuss industry trends in blockchain in ASEAN.

This event also marks the first collaboration between organizations blockchain across ASEAN and Australia to promote education blockchain, share knowledge on digital asset development, and promote technology adoption blockchain throughout ASEAN and Australia.

“Digital connectivity is imperative during the current pandemic to keep businesses running. Then, this is an opportunity for blockchain to reorganize digital connectivity with advanced adaptation," said Edi Prio Pambudi, Senior Advisor to the Coordinating Minister for the Economy (Indonesia) in an official statement, Thursday (22/4).

The signing of this MOU has the same goals and objectives, namely to serve the public interest in the technology sector blockchain. It also aims to further enhance cooperation among the six organizations to take the industry to a higher level, through their contribution to the development of the industry blockchain and digital assets.

Organizations blockchain these will work together to raise awareness and increase adoption of technology use blockchain. They will also engage with regulators to ensure legal compliance with properly defined regulations.

Chairman of the Indonesian Blockchain Association (ABI) Muhammad Deivito Dunggio added, “The rise of technology blockchain in the world is inevitable, Indonesia as the highest level of digital adoption will be at the forefront, the MoU can be the starting point of new technological advancements in the industry blockchain."
