Gunung Sewu Group Participates in Postr Funding, Succeeds Expansion into Indonesia's Adtech Market

Postr is an adtech service provider from New Zealand that focuses on telcos as consumers

New Zealand adtech startup Postr today announced its latest funding of $2,1 million. Several investors were involved in this funding, including one of the group companies from Indonesia, the Gunung Sewu Group. Gunung Sewu itself is a company engaged in several fields, including insurance, real estate market, food and some products consumer other.

Funding poster The plan is to focus on business expansion, and Southeast Asia (including Indonesia) will be one of the stops for the adtech startup. Its success in the New Zealand market is considered to be an impressive start. Postr's confidence to embrace the Southeast Asia region due to device penetration mobile devices (especially Android) which is very significant.

In his statement to e27, Postr CEO Milan Reinartz said:

"We will of course be very focused on Indonesia (the market) and have spent a lot of time (exploring) in Jakarta, but while I can't confirm the details in detail regarding our partnership (in Indonesia), I can only confirm that Indonesia and the Philippines will be our main focus in Southeast Asia."

The products and services offered by Postr are in the form of integrated solutions in the form of "telco-branded white label apps" which allows people to place ads and display them on lock-screen Android phone (with user consent). Cooperation with operator service providers, so that the benefits offered to users are in the form of rewards Mobile Data or other service bonuses. This concept is considered capable of being one of the strategies to increase the monthly ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) of cellular operators.

Regarding the expansion of the adtech business into the Indonesian market, this is not the first time. Previously a German company Glispa also started operating in Indonesia since the beginning of the year. Equally specific but with different target markets, if Postr leads to telco companies, Glispa focuses on the e-commerce sector. However, Glispa also stated the same reason when giving a statement on the reasons for expansion, namely mobile penetration in Indonesia with the support of broadband infrastructure growth.

Meanwhile, local companies providing adtech services, one of the largest is Adskom. By offering a programmatic platform for adtech, Adksom has now expanded in several areas. Currently outside Indonesia, his party already has representative offices in Singapore, the United States and India.

The growth of digital businesses and marketing that utilizes the online user ecosystem has brought digital advertising models in high demand. Adtech brings something more specific, providing a more precise target with a very cultural medium, namely smartphone.
