PopBox Asia Smart Locker Service Gets Initial Funding from East Ventures

Funding will be used for PopBox's business expansion in Indonesia and the development of features and technology owned by PopBoox

A startup that provides automatic locker services for the process of sending and receiving online shopping items, PopBox, announced today that it has secured an undisclosed amount of seed funding from East Ventures. The funds will be used to support PopBox's business expansion in Indonesia and the development of its features and technology.

Established by Adrian Lim and Greta Bunawan, PopBox tries to offer the process of sending and receiving groceries online becomes easier by adopting the PopBox Smart Locker system. How it works, after a transaction occurs between the consumer and the merchant, items will be placed by merchant into PopBox's auto locker which functions as pick-up point. After that, the consumer will receive a code in the smartphone which can be used as a secret code in the process of picking up items at the nearest PopBox automatic locker.

CEO of PT. PopBox Asia Services Adrian Lim in the information we received said, "PopBox automatic locker always online and it's available 24 hours, so you can pick up your items at a nearby location when you get home from work or when you visit a shopping center."

Currently, PopBox automatic lockers are available at several locations in Jakarta such as Baywalk Mall, Grand Slipi Tower, Kalibata City Square, and EV Hive. With funding from East Ventures, PopBox plans to launch more lockers in the next few months and also plans to expand to the rest of Jabodetabek by the end of the year. In the future, consumers can also use the locker to return goods sent by merchant certain e-commerce.

Revealed by the COO of PT. PopBox Asia Services Greta Bunawan, as an open platform PopBox wants to be able to work with all courier and e-commerce service providers in Indonesia. According to Greta, the model implemented by PopBox will ultimately be able to help e-commerce to expand e-commerce services themselves and improve the consumer experience.
