PINTAR Acquires Gredu, Kerja.io, and Hiringmaps to Expand Business
PINTAR aims to expand its reach across a wider range of careers
PINTAR, a workforce development and advancement platform, announced its expansion into skills-based education and workforce placement through the acquisition of three startups: Gredu, Jobs.io, and Hiringmaps – which have collectively raised nearly $5 million since founding.
This acquisition marks a significant step in PINTAR's mission to empower more than 350 million workers in Southeast Asia and strengthen its position in the education to employment sector.
Earlier this year Pintar was reported to have bagged it additional funding of $3 million led by Havez Capital and participation from SIG Venture Capital. Havez Capital is an investment company led by Imelda Harsono, who currently also serves as Director at PT Samator Indo Gas Tbk.
Expanding reach with Gredu
Through this acquisition, PINTAR gains access to more than 400 schools throughout Indonesia, providing the opportunity to strengthen its higher education business by reaching students in general and vocational schools, especially in Gredu network.
“The combination with PINTAR extends the lifespan of our users as Gredu products and services can now be adapted for the higher education and corporate learning segments,” said Co-founder & CEO Gredu Moh. Rizky Anies, who will join PINTAR as a non-executive director. Moh. Arya Budi Nugraha, Co-founder and COO, will also join PINTAR to lead the K12 division.
Investors Gredu, Intudo Ventures and Vertex Ventures will join PINTAR's list of investors, along with existing backers SIG Ventures, AppWorks and GDP Venture. In addition, the family office, Samator, an energy company, and Gunung Sewu, which has interests in agriculture and financial services, are also part of the group.
Integrate Job.io for early career professional development
Work.io is internship opportunity marketplace in the technology and financial services sectors. By integrating Kerja.io into its platform, PINTAR will offer its customers a global channel for highly qualified early career professionals as interns and mentees. In addition, PINTAR will utilize Kerja.io assets, including interview preparation materials, case competitions, and a community of engaged professionals.
“While at Brown University, I saw that students and young professionals around the world wanted to work for Indonesian companies to gain exposure to our dynamic and fast-growing market but did not have access to hiring managers,” said Job.io Co-founder & CEO Wijaya Team. Tim will join PINTAR in a product design advisory role, contributing to the integration of Kerja.io into PINTAR Opportunity.
Strengthen workforce placement with Hiringmaps
Hiringmaps, a portal online to recruit and place medium-skilled Indonesian migrant workers, bringing valuable expertise and a global customer base to PINTAR. The startup, whose family has run businesses in the Middle East for two generations, will help PINTAR obtain the necessary licenses for global workforce deployment, as well as access to critical domain expertise. Hiringmaps CEO, Ghahtan Said Attamimi, will join PINTAR to lead its cross-border placement division.
“To maximize the impact of Indonesian talent on the global stage, it is critical to integrate the placement of skilled migrant workers with training, certification and verification on a cohesive platform. This combination allows us to streamline business processes to ensure that migrant workers are not only matched with appropriate jobs but also gain relatively higher earnings, better career prospects, and legal protection from bad actors lurking at the edges of the system, Ghahtan said.
Strategic impact and future growth
By consolidating companies along the education-to-work continuum, PINTAR aims to expand its reach across a wider range of careers, with the potential to expand into neighboring markets. This strategy will diversify PINTAR's revenue streams from a market exposure perspective, complementing the diversification it has achieved across its various business segments.
PINTAR's comprehensive approach is structured around four main pillars: (1) Enterprise for corporate learning and development; (2) Degrees for accredited formal education; (3) Skills for certified training; (4) and Opportunity for placement services for professionals and entrepreneurs.
Consolidation in the education, training and recruitment sectors in the region can create more opportunities for Indonesian talent to find meaningful work both at home and abroad.
According to the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics, there are 26,54% of youth aged 15-24 years who are not involved in education, work or training (NEET). Unemployment among vocational school and secondary school graduates is also higher than the national average, at 8,62% and 6,73% respectively, compared with an overall rate of 4,82%, according to the same source.
