Partner Expansion Strategy for PayPro-style User Penetration

Optimizing QR Codes; Starting from cooperating with bajaj drivers to future plans to accommodate small food vendors

PayPro is a virtual wallet service provider that uses a mobile phone number as a transaction identity, just like an account number. This system strategy is considered effective, considering the vision PayPro facilitate non-cash financial needs for people who do not have a banking account (unbanked). In addition to providing basic services, PayPro tries to expand the functionality of its system by establishing special partnerships with bajaj transportation service providers in Jakarta.

Chief Marketing Officer PayPro Heidi Bokau explained to DailySocial there are at least about 800 bajaj who have and will implement this feature. Each Bajaj fleet will be equipped with a QR Code to allow users to make non-cash payments using the PayPro application. This approach is based on the needs of today's society. Service on-demand existing ones are proven to provide a lot of effectiveness and transparency in the payment and use of public transport services.

Stay strategically partnered with Indosat Ooredoo

Towards the end of the first quarter of 2017, Indosat Ooredoo started announce rebranding Dompetku service becomes PayPro. At the same time, it announced that PayPro will be a separate legal entity from Indosat, and even has no legal affiliation at all. The strategy to merge Dompetku into PayPro is the result of a strategic collaboration between the company and PT Solusi Pasti Indonesia (SPI) as an over the top (OTT) platform developer.

However, Heidi explained briefly that PayPro is still a strategic partner in business dealings with Indosat.

"Until now Indosat is PayPro's strategic partner and PayPro's agenda is to continue to support the National Non-Cash Movement launched by Bank Indonesia in 2014," said Heidi.

Another reasonable reason, PT SPI does not yet have a license e-money from Bank Indonesia to operate digital payment services. It is said that the PayPro license is still owned by Indosat. Indosat itself has received a license from BI since 2009.

QR Code optimization for service expansion

Having various features of banking system service transactions, PayPro considers that its debut in the community will be accepted. Especially with various conveniences, including the ability to top up balances and withdraw cash through all Alfamart and Indomaret branches in Indonesia, just like the representation of a banking ATM system.

Another feature that we are trying to optimize is the QR Code payment model that PayPro has. Through this service, PayPro wants to try to facilitate transactions that people need daily, from transportation to basic needs.

“In the future, PayPro wants to be at the forefront of non-cash payments. Imagine if we buy vegetables or eat dumplings and make payments simply by doing scan QR Code so it doesn't require cash," explained Heidi.
